I once purchased zip ties - the tiny ones - to use on chicks then decided not to use them and never did. I was too nervous about them and thinking they'd be hard to get off.

I have used the rubber bands that kids make jewelry from. When they're tiny I have to double them. However, when they're newly hatched they're just too large and fall off those little stick legs even when doubled.

We bought a very old grain wagon from my "cow neighbor". Its rusty, needs definite TLC but it works! DH wire wheeled it, and started painting it today. Trying to upload pictures but the internets not cooperating, ugh! This is more for the livestock, but I do offer corn as treats to the birds too. All of the livestock get corn along with the other feeds depending on the critter. Will be a huge savings to buy direct from the local farm here, around $3.50 a bushel. That's about 60 pounds! Corn is 2x that at feed stores.

This is the stripped out wagon. All the 3 point parts are removed. It was primed with rust inhibitor. Cant get the rest of the pictures to load yet but is now John Deere green to match out tractor!

@Mother2Hens Purina Naturals isn't bad for a modestly priced cat food. My crew of 5 (counting two of DD's) likes it and there wasn't much puking. The 4Health grain-free has been fabulous at reducing the hairballs and other puking, though, just amazing.

Everybody looks at the artwork. That's how graphic designers make a living! I'm disinclined to buy something in ugly or goofy packaging.

Good post! I think I have some of those too.

I've used both little zip ties (left as loose as possible w/o falling off) and tiny rubber bands. I think I only had one come off all last season (the rubber bands).
