Yes, they are embden! If thats really the flock I would LOVE to add them here. I will contact them tomorrow. My vet needs more geese at his poultry farm too.

@Indyshent somehow I left a message on a duck thread! I would be happy to humanely dispatch Curly, and all 3 Bielefelder boys are well off heat. PM me so we and Janet can figure it all out. I'm free this weekend. @jchny2000

@Indyshent and @kittydoc If building the ramp for the front entry falls through for the weekend, I will plan for it. I should know friday for sure.

Its been terribly hot and humid. Please share how you help your birds stay cool! I put frozen water bottles in all my water buckets. Watch your flock close so they don't over heat!
We recently added 3 barn kittens, all boys. They will be neutered, and get shots to keep them healthy. One little boy was dumped off here last week, and has a respiratory issue. Terrified little baby. I had to trap him so we could even catch him! Very unusual buff color kitten. The other 2 are black tabby, DH brought them home from a friends house. This is the first kittens I have raised in over 21 years. I hope people will stop dumping off unwanted pets here. This poor baby's eyes and nose were caked up from dust. I needed barn cats but certainly didn't want them abandoned. He came in the house with me.. I will not ignore his need for help. Calling my vet later in case this is more than just repository.

I also use frozen water bottles in each waterer. I also refill the waterers at least once through out the day with cold clean water. We installed a fan in the coop for when they are laying eggs. I know everyone doesnt have this option, but my girls like to hang out in the woods on the hottest days.
I was happy to hear you took in the kittens. We had a mom just show up, she ckearly had kittens suckling as her nipples were still wet but we never found the kittens. She hung out here for 2 days and is now gone.i have been worried ever since about what haooened to her babies as it was so hot this week

I have 2 five month old male d'uccles, one of which has recently begun to squat when i get close. He has also begun to run up close to where i am as soon as he hears me. Once he gets near me, he immediately starts eating, if there is no food or grass or whatnot to peck he just pretends to be eating...does anyone know what this behavior means? I cant tell but i THINK he is lower on the ladder than the other male who does none of this behavior. He doesnt ket me touch him and will run away quickly if i continue to walk towards him. Unless he thinks he cant go far, then he squats if i walk toward him.

More craigslist finds. I can't go anywhere today because DH's car broke down last night and still needs fixing.

Person in Middletown still has "Lavender Palm" poults for 10/ea

"Easter Legger" chicks available in Noblesville for $5-12 depending on age and breed. Here's the kicker: they look like Swedish Flower and not remotely like EEs.

Legbar chicks in Noblesville. Hatched 6-21. 3 boys ($5 or free with pullet), one girl ($15). Same seller as the Easter Leggers above

Myotonic goats!

Border Collie puppies! Blue merle, black and white, red and white, and red merle!

Introducing, Caitlin the D'Uccle!

Hot Weather:

I put flat pans (think 13x9) out in the area where they run and fill with water in the morning and refresh whenever I'm around. They drink from them but they also like to stand in them to cool off.

Also have a fan in the barn that I put on if it's extremely hot only.

Mine also like to lay around at the edge of the woods in the grass or dirt bath area in the shade.
