INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I give mine egg shells everyday. I rinse and break them up a bit and keep them in a jar on my counte. I couldn't get mine to eat oyster shells but they do real well with the egg shells. I keep a cereal sized bowl out with shells for my 10 hens.I'm not sure how much they should have but they seem to go through that much every couple days.
I do the same thing. I collect the shells in a container by the sink as we use them. When when the container is full of slightly smashed shells, I microwave or bake the shells before smashing them up into even small pieces. My flock will eat oyster shell but the egg shells are highly preferred.

Hmmm, I don't bake mine, I wash them real good and allow them to air dry be I put them in my mason jar. SHOULD I be baking them?

I also keep a quart canning jar and put the egg shells right into it - not broken - to dry out. After they dry out, I smash them into somewhat large pieces and put them out in a feeder I made from a milk carton.

They get to choose between those and the calcarb or oyster shell. They always choose the shells first until they're all gone.

I actually keep 2 jars going so that as one gets dry the just cracked shells are going into the other.

I use these milk carton feeders for the cal carb, oyster shell, egg shell and grit. Free and easy to make :) I just hang them on the kennel pens with a large "S Hook".

Awesome! I have some ways to go getting the hang of everything lol. Blowing they'll warm up to me a little better if I give them something besides pellets haha

I raise meal worms and that has made ALL my girls ABSOLUTELY LOVE me. They come running as soon as they hear the door and if they see it isn't me, they just mozey on back down the hill LOL! In the winter, I make oatmeal, boiled eggs, scrambled eggs stuff like that for them for snacks. My girls will fight over scrambled eggs for some reason but will share the boiled eggs peacefully. They also like cottage cheese. I have to give treats sparingly these days because they won't eat their layer feed. It's frustrating because I thoroughly love giving them goodies and watchING them be so happy.

I LOVE this idea! I'm gonna make some this weekend! I am running out of bowls be I often forget to bring them in at night and racoon try to carry them off until they break.
