INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Does anyone have sheep? I'm thinking about getting two Shetland sheep. We have two man-made ponds with liners, and the concern is hooves going into the water on the liner, but the plan would be to herd them into a grazing area daily, but sometimes they will be in the pond area. Anyone?

Hi all, I am new to BYC. I'm in southern IN (Bedford/Bloomington area) and I'm hoping to make contact with silkie breeders! I'm new to having my own chickens, but I was raised on a farm and had them growing up. We had 3 silkie hens and a rooster, but a dog ripped the door off our coop and killed my little hens. My poor Roo is lonely.

We got them as day-old hatchlings last spring and my 3yr old daughter is heartbroken over it. The breeder we got them from doesn't currently have any hens available. Does anyone know of reputable breeders in southern Indiana?

I have my silkies separated for breeding and could hatch for you. I don't have any hens available though.
I have Blue, black and Partridge. They are laying and I have a Partridge going broody!! SMH! Haha!
I can send you pics if you want

Just let me know if you decide.

Edited to add I'm located in Martinsville.

My little orphan scovys are getting big fast. Of course! All are chocolates. 2 boys and 4 girls.
One of the boys is marked differently than any I have and I can't find anything online to see what he will look like as an adult. He was hatched all yellow with a chocolate smudge on his head.

Any scovy folks have any similar? I'd love to see pics!

I'm guessing all white with the Chocolate crest.

If anyone processes/butcher's their birds, we have a used washing machine we're selling that could be converted into a plucker .
Motor & all runs great - the hub/tub seals wore out & is leaking water (& too costly to repair, or we'd still be using it for laundry).
Has a stainless steel tub / 3.3 cubic feet capacity.
I replaced the drive belt & drain pump (aprox 5 minutes of use on the new parts), so we're basically asking price of the new parts .
message me if any interest
Thanx.
Will help load onto truck, van, or trailer.
(We are 100 miles North of Angola, IN)

Welcome, I am so sorry to hear it. We do have several folks dedicated to the Silkes, hopefully one can help you..

I don't and hope you get input. I keep goats. Mine use a natural pond the cows also use, and do pasture with our cows also. We also have 2 heated 100 gallon stock tanks to ensure no one goes thirsty.

Mine all went to my neighbor Arrick. Will ask him recent pics, he has around 14 I think from my emergency hatch.

We have 21 pullets (all hatched last year, not by us) and one hen that is a little over a year old. Today, we got 17 eggs!!!! 6 of our pullets are bantams and lay the cutest eggs you have ever seen. I plan on pickling some of them to have on a hot summer day with a cold beer.
Also, my wife hung a basket up to see if the bantams like it. They do since they have been laying in it and Rhonda the silkie has decided to sleep in it at night.

Too precious! Congrats on the egg count! Your Silkie may go broody in that basket fyi she has "that look" already.
OH my goodness pickled eggs are flat awesome. My mom asked me to put more up as soon as I replace my quail.
