Hello all! We are looking for 6-10 more pullets/hens to join our flock. We would like pullets/hens that either are laying or will be laying soon. My SILs family and MIL are loving the farm fresh eggs so we need to add more. No certain breed but good egg production is a must. I am in NWI but will be in Indy this weekend for the homeschool convention and can pick up saturday. Looking for very reasonably priced birds.

I saw this shirt on Facebook a while back. I don't trust buying things on Facebook stores so I'm going to have the store I work for make them. I need a minimum of 12 shirts to place an order. Right now I'm at 6 shirts. I wanted to reach out to you guys to see if anyone would be interested. I can place the order and then when the shirts are ready you can come to the store in Broad Ripple to pick them up and pay for them. If you'd like a shirt but don't feel like making the drive to Broad Ripple I can mail it to you and we can settle payment via PayPal or venmo (shipping cost added to payment). I'm not entirely sure of the cost yet. Once I get the confirmed number of shirts they'll be able to give me an exact price. Let me know if anyone would be interested!!

Hello all! We have one Cochin and several of other breeds in pairs or more. I know I know it's probably crazy but for some strange reason I just feel our Cochin needs another! ISO Cochin (any color except black as ours is bLack w white on chest) probably 3-8 weeks old. I'm thinking that's a lot to ask??? Hoping for females but idk that these things are easily sexed! Supposedly I have a girl but she has a slight comb that's pale. I'm in mooresville. Anyone???

Oh and I forgot....rural king in martinsville has isa brown and buff orphington pullets (one looked to be maybe roo though) that are a little older for .50!!! I actually walked out without any but it was Hard!!!

Depending on price we'd want 2. We'd pick up cause Broad ripple is not that far. When would you have them - that combined with at least a price range & I could let you know for sure.

Thank you, and yes, the lack of oxygen is whats causing it. We saw this when he was rushed to the heart hospital for emergency valve replacement. Not enough oxygen to the brain makes him "act out" and its a danger sign with heart patients.

Thanks. My 2 little old dogs love eggs too! Momma DS is getting them all right now to help keep her protein up while nursing the piglets.

Thats a nice mix!

Thanks for the chick radar!
Welcome to BYC and our thread! :frow

Learning the difference between draft free and ventilation is really important for respiratory health, and preventing frostbite. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!

Was thinking about 4 to 6 to start with.  Mainly because the farm store won't sell smaller numbers. But I guess I've talked with a few people and saw some stuff on here that tells me that would also give us enough eggs for family use and also a few eggstras to give to my folks.  Thinking that you're probably right on the number I'll actually want when the dust settles.  Trying to keep coop costs down, but I'm guessing that the decision to build the coop is the expensive thing and going slightly larger to accommodate 4 or so more birds probably won't add a ton of cost.  Stayed up too late last night looking at ventilation, overwintering, and coop designs.  I'll check Aart's link tonight when my kids go to bed.

The free range idea is appealing, and I think we have the room to do it.  The snag would be predation, but not what you might think.  We have awesome neighbors who are good friends.  They have an equally awesome dog whom I love like my own.  She's a mini-schnauzer that has a knack for catching song birds out of the air, so I'm quite certain the chickens won't fare to well when she's out.  So rather than upset the apple cart, I'm going to try to build a decent sized run to begin and then later a tractor so I can move them around a bit.

What part of Indiana are you from? I'm in Indiana as well, and we aren't ready yet to build our chicken coop and have chickens. We are finishing a total Re-build on the house first. I'm thinking while they buid the house I could build the coop and still have my chickens.
