INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Thanks, how deep should the sand be?

I haven't used sand before, but read quite a bit about it on this forum. From my understanding a couple inches. I've read how quite a few people are even using it in the coop as bedding and scooping it like a cat litter box I clean.

Hi all! I am in Indianapolis, Indiana and I want to get started on chickens but can't seem to find any for sale here in Indy. If anyone has any for sale let me know and yes I know this is the wrong forum for this. But it wouldn't let me post in the buy-sell-wanted page.

But it is good to know that there are fellow hoosiers on here. On my other groups I am the only one from indy

Ashley in Indiana.

Anyone else in Franklin? Im trying to figure out zoning information.

I'm close to Franklin. I was just johnson county a few years back. Then we got added into the city. After talking to several different city departments in our tiny town, it turned out that the property tax people were able to check the exact zoning of our property and I can have chickens but not a massage chicken egg production facility.

The local 4H people seemed to know all about franklin's chicken laws in general when I was researching my area. I'm thinking roosters are a gray area but I have heard them while I was standing in the walmart parking lot so someone has them.

You came to the right place, what type of chickens are you looking for? Egg layers, meat chickens, or both?

Hi, welcome to the Indiana thread!

Contact your animal control, code enforcement, cooperative extension for starters. If they don't know you may not have an ordinance. Hope that helps for starters.
