INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Projects update:

Eggs seem to be doing well, lock down starts Friday. My nerves though.
Day 7. You can kind of see some veining. :fl

Built a duck house, ducks don't use it. So in the next few weeks I'm going to fix the ramp, add hen boxes and a few roosts for the chickens. The whole side opens for easy cleaning.

Sorry about Starla! She does like to hide under things to build nests. Try checking under things that she may possibly get under. She hatched a clutch under my chicken coop before that only has 4-5" clearance under it. And she did like to climb. I hope she comes back to you in the morning!

And I think Salt is a male... Salt looks just as big as Java, Salt seems to be growing the mask starting at the bill, and has thick legs...

Females start to grow the caruncles around the eyes, have thin legs, wing tips should almost be to the tip of tail, and should be smaller then males. Java is a definite male. I vent sexed him as a newly hatched duckling.
Could you get pictures of pepper? Are salt and pepper both same size?
@Leahs Mom
Awesome, thanks for the search tips. I find it more confusing than it really is now that its broke down.

@Nyla
Starla's gone missing tonight. I've been letting them free range in the afternoons and she seems to have taken off. I didn't notice until after dark when I went out to lock them all up. I'm heartbroken and hoping she shows back up tomorrow since this is where the food is. I don't know how she managed to clear the fence, I just checked her wings the other night. :hit:confused: We looked everywhere we could think of but its just too dark.

Since I haven't shared any pics for awhile:
Here's my muscovys:

Molly - Fun Story - Molly is a legacy. My grandma got back into raising chickens due to her friend Molly. So her first chicken starting back up was named Molly. Molly was the best hatcher, so down her line after she was gone, another chicken got named Molly. My grandma's last two Black Maran have been Molly. So, because grandma can't have chickens right now, we of course had to name our black maran "Molly"

Rhea, currently my only layer since everyone else has froze up for winter. Thea is her sister and is several shades darker. But she's shy still so she didn't come out for photo day.

Yep.. All 7. I bought them for $45 for 7 hens. It was just getting dark outside so it was hard to tell before I bought them. When I got them home under a bright light, I was able to see really red combs tail feathers were pointed and undefined. Also the man sad they were 2 months old, but they were more around 1 month old. They weren't fully feathered, and where much smaller then my neighbors 2 month olds. (She hatched her chicks from eggs off ebay, and refuses to sell me any..) So the man who sold them to me gave me back my money and took home the chickens.

@kanina Starla may have flown off to roost on top of something for the night. Mine all sleep in the barn, on elevated platforms, one place being the built-in work table, that I put clean shavings on every day.

Hope she returns in the morning.

I'll start searching the neighborhood when I get home from work. I did check the trees and the garage roof. I couldn't check the house roof because of the pitch. I hope she'll be somewhere in the yard when I get home.

I was starting to wonder about them, they are both the same size as Java while Starla is so small in comparison. I'll try to get a picture of Pepper tonight.
