What's going on with my eggs????

Here are today's eggs from the coop:

Only 4 eggs, but that's not what I'm wondering about. From left to right:
Spec Sussex (Chizzy), Orpington (probably a laced girl), Leghorn (our amazing Tillie), and ????

I don't have any hens that lay eggs like THAT! The closest would be if something went terribly wrong with my Welsummer. However, the Welsummer's still molting and has a pale comb. Also my Welsummer's eggs are speckled but very dark red-brown. (They look like @jchny2000 's Marans eggs above) Perhaps a new orp layer, but none of my orps have ever laid eggs with that many speckles.

Could it be a turkey egg? I have no idea. I know for sure that my 2 remaining turkeys are female. (Never heard a gobble nor seen a display, and both have hairs on their heads.) My turkeys were hatched in June & for one reason after another didn't get processed yet. It was easier to fit them inside the coop than our over-stuffed freezer.

Yes that looks like a turkey egg! You are in for a treat :drool so good! I used to get 3-4 eggs a week per hen.

I was going to process one of the turkeys this weekend. Can I tell who's laying by the vent? Is it normal for turkeys to lay in January? I thought they only laid in the spring.

Having one of those days....
Besides the mystery egg in the main coop, the useless bantam coop has been a cacophony of noise. The bantam hen trio has been singing the egg song (but no eggs), Teddy's been crowing to accompany them, and the OEG has been going through her unusual noise repertoire. (She sounds nothing like a chicken.)

The puppy got a hold of DS's sleeping bag & ripped a big hole in it. DS was pretty upset since it's his favorite, so DD decided to fix it...... with the stapler. LOL (That's MY girl! I can do many artistic & domestic tasks with ease - except sewing. I found duct tape & glue can fix many things.)

My chicks are now 5 weeks. They still mostly look like females. I saw what looked like blood in the poop, so I've been treating with Corid in the water for the past 2 days. No other physical or behavioral symptoms. This morning I saw bright red blood in the shavings & quickly ordered a fresh package of Corid. I figured my batch was old & may not be working as well as it should. Has anyone ever had chicks with cocci & actually saw blood? If so, how long until it cleared up? In the past, I gave Corid anytime I had suspicion of Cocci but really only noticed diarrhea - never actual blood.

The silkie broody (Xansie) is molting & looking icky. Her nails were in need of a pedicure, so she had some spa time this afternoon. While soaking her feet, I pulled off a bit of clumped feathers & later realized that there was a blood feather. In hindsight, the bright red blood from this morning (& possibly the last 2 days) may have come from that toe feather. Time will tell.

Here's Xansie's spa day

Here are some pics of the 5 wk old chicks:

Blue orp
It's a very large birds with thick legs, but I still think female. She's going to be HUGE.

White serama (now more beige... kind of reminds me of a Porcelain Mille Fleur) I think female.

Chipmunk serama
*** Please take a close look at this one. Mostly looks female (especially since seramas mature quickly) but those wattles still make me nervous! Much also depends on the camera angle.

Its normally 8 months old about for most turkey breeds POL. I've had them start in weird times of year too. The 2nd year they will start laying in spring. I'm thinking the lipstick trick on the vents. Get the cheap samples at the drugstore, drastic different colors apply heavily to the vents.

Great pics! Those red waddles always make me question too. I haven't dealt with cocci in a long time, usually its from chicks not hatched from my own birds. I'm glad you posted this with those shipped eggs I'm incubating! It seems like its a 5 day treatment but I will look it up. Here is one from Poultry show Central:

Well, I collected 9 Leghorn eggs today and one Cornish Cross egg! I also saw 1 pullet egg in my EEs, looks olive! I left it in the nest since most of the girls are new layers. I'm planning to hatch early with the breeds I keep so they are laying by summer. Some of my girls are pretty old 5+ and I hate buying chicks. Going to hatch a few weeks to get some new flock members going.
Whats your favorite chicken breeds for eggs? I love leghorn for a ton of eggs and great feed conversion excellent free ranged. Mixed flock for longevity, BR, BO, DC, Maran & CX. Egg colors and resilient birds, excellent free ranged. My EE/OE flock I've had for almost 7 years, love the egg colors and feed conversion, excellent free ranged.

Thats pretty funny! I did the same thing to my Muscovy's last summer to check who was laying and who wasn't. I bought lipstick from the Dollar Tree Store. They have a tons of colors too. I made a chart with the picture of the duck and the color of lipstick I put on each female. It also helped me find out if I had a dud female. Which actually happened! I bought a ton of Muscovy's from a person in Michigan and turned out 2 of the 9 females I bought from him were Mules. They didn't look like mules but where pretty big females compared to my others. I tried hatching every eggs I collected for 1 month before I started selling their eggs for hatching. Glad I did too! That is how I found out the 2 were mules. Because only the eggs with the 2 mules colors weren't developing at all. I plan to do the same thing this year when I get Muscovy's or chickens again!
My family thought I was weird for the lipstick thing. Glad I'm not the only one!

The turkeys are a little over 6 months, so I'm guessing one is a fast maturing turkey hen. I'll have to try the lipstick trick. I tried it with food coloring with no good results. The reg kind didn't mark anything & the gel kind only helped me identify who made which poop.... for a day.

The good news is that I no longer see blood in the bedding today. The bright red blood was likely coming from the broken toe feather I found on the broody hen.

Xansie enjoyed her spa day (not the bath - but the hairdryer). The cornstarch fixed up that feather & now she's back to looking fabulous. Perhaps a little "thinner" due to her current molt, but still fluffy and sweet. I wish all my hens could look this good while molting. I have some that look more like hedgehogs than chickens.

In the past when I "thought" I had cocci, I never saw blood. Just minor lethargy & runny poop. This time I saw red in the poop - but no other symptoms. A few days of Corid won't hurt them and although this morning's blood was probably from the mama, it still could have been a chick's bloody cocci poop I saw 2 days ago. Thankfully, they're all acting healthy & active.

Sunday I will be going to Sherwood, Michigan to buy a pair of Mandarin Ducks. The male is a possible split to White Standard with a standard hen. It's a 2 hour 30 minute drive but worth it! And my Pair from Mallard Lane Farms will be shipping out on Monday! The aviary is coming together slowly though. Waiting on the wire mesh to come in the mail!
