INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Pipd- I love your pics, please keep posting.
Mother2Hens- Your new chicks are really lovely.
John- I'm really sorry about Cogburn. I hope you get the coyotes.

Does anyone have a favorite place or pattern for hen saddles? Of the 6 roosters and 2 hens that I rescued last week, I have 5 roos and one hen left. They have free-ranged all of their lives (about a year) but it only took a week for a raccoon to eat them at my house. My husband saw it as it took them both away. Not sure how it managed two at the same time, but there you go. The hen that is left is the one missing most of its feathers, so I'd like to protect her enough to get them back. My son was really broken up about losing the chickens, so we will have to figure out something else until the coop is ready. I think it can be ready to inhabit by the end of the weekend if we work hard and have good weather.

I hope you all have a great weekend and happy hatching to those of you with eggs. It sounds exciting!

Crselvy- I made some quick ones out of no-sew fleece. Very easy, 5 min. I don't have a pic but basically a 7 in long by 5 inch wide and I rounded the corners. Then you cut 2 slits for the wings, they have to be bigger than you would think!! I'll get a pic if you want me to

I had a good hatch today. I had 9 set and 8 hatched. I think the last one quit but I'm gonna give it another day before I open it to see what might have happened. Poor little thing didn't even pip the outter shell. I ended up with 3 showgirl chicks, Happy chicken dance. I have 2 blue maybe black chicks, 2 buff a partridge and.the 3 showgirls. I wil post pictures when they are all dry. I am done for awhile until I see my paint roo breeding my black girls and then I will see what I get from them.

That is a very good hatch. Congrates (spelling?) on your new chicks! I have always thought silkies were so cute, but I like showgirls more just because they are little oddballs lol.
