Anyone in NW Indiana want some baby roo's? They about seven weeks old now. Was looking for hens was told one was a hen and they are all looking like they are going to be roos.

I have two blk ones available right now was told one was a pure breed cuckoo maran but it doesn't appear to be the case, he has a slightly crooked toe that doesn't affect him in the slightest. The other one is a maran hybrid.

They are on Dumor starter/grower and doing fine. I have them off the heat lamp now going to be moving them outside to the coop in another few weeks but would like them to be rehomed by then.

Right now just the blk ones pictured are available.

PM me if your interested just want to find them a new roost!

They are adorable, the last one, front left, reminds me of my BA babies! I wish we were closer. I have some 9 week old BA, I would try to integrate until they matured. I keep a mixed flock for our eggs that we eat.

Here are some picture of my cabinet incubator. I'm working on the new door with window now and hopefully have it on in a couple days. I didn't have time to make a turner for this so I just bought a couple LG egg turners and altered them to fit the incubator. I had to cut off the last egg tray to fit, but overall don't have any complaints with these turners yet.
WOW, very nice design! Looks like an easy build too! Cant wait to see it with the window

I really want to start going to the swaps soon. Missing out on the fun!

Quote: Thanks so much for sharing this! I have read so many different opinions on the topic.

I decided to list my two 9 week old, apparent cockerels in this group first. I know there is a forum specifically for selling and trading, but I want to approach Indiana buyers here so please forgive me for not following protocols. I would prefer not to have to ship the birds and can help deliver within reasonable range. (I am in Indianapolis on north side) Unfortunately, I am not in the position to give them away (unemployed) and would like to have 5.00 obo for each. The father is a beautiful Black Australorp and the mothers are Red Stars. Curiously, the birds are very, very light colored flecked with a few black spots. "Dad" has been a good guardian of his ladies, so my hope it these will do fine with their flocks, too. I will split them up or sell them together. The birds seem healthy and happy and have been in the main coops for 6 weeks along with their 3 siblings. The birds were hatched Dec 21, 2012. I know there is a forum specifically for selling and trading, but I want to approach Indiana buyers here so please forgive me for not following protocols. (My wife hopes the birds will go to a good home so if you plan on eating them, please do not tell me.)

Let me know if there are any takers. If no one wants them here, then they are bound for Craig's List!
Unless the moderators say otherwise, I really hope everyone posts here first! Its common sense to do things locally first and I am so glad you did

Oh... forcast rain til tomorrow, some flurries. Man, when is spring again?
mine reluctantly came out in the rain, but they are under the bushes next to the house. I know they are not staying dry, but the 'teenagers' are probably glad the parents left so they can run around inside the coop. hahaha

I don't normally do this, but saw this photo on facebook, thanks to my sister, and wanted to share. It is a page called "Homesteading / Survivalism" in case others want to check out the source. I like recycling things into creative, useful projects and this is a good example of that.

Anyone near Crown Point (NWI) Crown feed and supply is having a "poultry day" March 12th @ 6:30 pm. A nutrition specialist from purina brand will be there talking bout stuff, there's door prizes, games etc.

http://crownfeedsupply.com/events

I've never actually been there, but it was on my list of to-stop-by's for a while now, just waitin on the girls to polish off their current bag of pellets.
