INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

we have 1 cat and its an inside cat and she has no front claws (we got her from a neighbor) shes killed 3 already... ill ask my dad if i can get an outside cat but then again we have a bunch of cats the roam our town so i dont know and i hoping its not to bad that we have to call extermanator. ill try and find the spot they come in at tomorrow... if theres any tips and/or tricks to keeping the out and staying out let me know thanks

ind where they are coming in at and block it. It's going to take a while. Won't happen overnight. If its too bad, get an exterminator

LOL Brad I live in a old farm house. You know how many holes there is for little mice to get in. I would have to build a house over my house to block all the holes. LOL Just picking on you. But yea if its too bad then I would call a exterminator or look online for remedies on keeping mice away.

No claws necessary to be good mousers!

I use glue traps usually, seem to do the best for us. then I don't worry on the poison, my silly little pug Sadie will catch mice too. My House cat Smokey passed away at 19, can't bring myself to get another.. but my youngest daughter has one and she is a good mouser so far. I am really afraid of using the poisons outside even, after seeing the grown chickens swallow a mouse whole more than once!

Good luck. You could try the traps where its a little black box w hole but then they don't come back out.

those do work well too. but they are a little pricey, and there's the repeating ones as well.

I'm not a knowledgable farmer like most of you, so here's a glimpse of the very spoiled suburban chickens that I have as backyard pets in a subdivision just outside the Evansville city limits. We had some freezing rain and snow flurries . . . Despite having a dry, warm luxury coop with a heated water bowl, fresh food, and clean litter boxes, the girls stood outside of the back sliding glass door on our deck-- looking in, shivering pitifully (I put some fresh, dry towels down for them to stand on). At one point I went out to gather their eggs, and didn't realize that I left the door open a little. When I returned to the door, I was the one looking in and Nene, my very bossy, assertive RIR hen was standing inside the house looking out at me like she was the lady of the house. When I came in, she walked to the refrigerator to beg for a few blueberries (her very favorite treat). Then she protested loudly about having to go back out. Those girls don't know how good they have it, but that's the way most kids are I guess. I just spoil them because my kids are in college and my entertaining hens fill my empty nest. : - )
