INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I am actually getting rid of my bantams hopefully. However, I still have 2 Rhode island bantam roos that need to leave. I am trying to make some room for 10 black stars, 5 jersey giants, 6 Rhode island reds and 6 Cornish cross. And my Phyllis is sitting on 4 eggs. Lol. I have gone chicken nuts.

My banty hen is a black Cochin. About a year, little over. From what her previous owner told me, her mommy was a notorious brooder. Like clock work every spring and fall.

My orps I hatched out a few weeks ago are a roo and 3 girls! So happy with my odds. I'll keep the girls definitely.when my bantams get a little bigger I will be willing to trade/swap with other Bantys to make pairs. So far I have Mille roo, black cochin roo, and a few others that I can't tell are Roos or not.

How can you tell sex after a few weeks? I thought it was tricky up to about 12 weeks or so.

Animallover.. when Ibuilt my bantam coop onto the side of my big girls coop, Iput a window in between! They can look at eachother, and peep. The big girls probably stand by it on the cold nights to get the warmth from the heat lamp. Its up pretty high though, I think that's why they have feathered out so well. That and the FF.

Anyone want a black jersey giant cockerel? Only about 10 weeks old. Pretty sure he is a rooster. Looking for a young pullet to trade. Columbus area? He is a great deal larger than my girls, feathers coming in slower. Huge legs with tiny little sharp beginnings of spurs. Enlarged red comb versus small yellow comb. Let me know. If not he is gonna be in the butcher batch this fall! Thank ya guys!

My chicks are no more than 5 weeks old and I can easily tell some of them are Roos. Here are some of the RIR I ordered from Meyers. All are supposed to be pullets, but a roo got thrown into the mix.

Well I've used up the last bag of feed for the quail. I believe I will be butchering them tomorrow. I thought they would be bigger than they are, but might get a meal out of one bird, but will probably need 2 for a meal. I bought them as an assortment, so if I do it again, I will make sure to just get the jumbo variety. Hope they taste good!
