INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Oh my gosh! I am so boring next to all of you who always have exciting things going on-- new chicks, animals, coops, mayhem. So many beautiful photos including (but not limited to- haha) kabhyper's new coop, run, chickens, and pet boy, pipdzip's darling laced bantams, leah'smom's flower children, and EllymayRan-- I especially love your Blue Maran!

NobleNester ~ Welcome to the Indiana Thread! I signed the petition, wrote a letter, and passed along the link/info to people I know in the Indy area.

"My Chickens Have Changed My LIfe"
I must tell you another "My Chickens Have Changed My LIfe" stories. I went to the doc today for a check-up and all of my blood tests, etc. were perfect, lost weight, and had my lowest cholesterol count ever! It's my chicken therapy! I go outside everyday despite the weather and do yard work with my flock for an average of three hours. It was especially good for me to get out every day in the winter.

Oh my, that's just wonderful news! It has sure improved my life too. I spend most of my day outdoors and walk most of our 5 acres several times a day, I m barely 5 foot tall, was nearly 170 pounds. I am back to 99 pounds less than high school. was pretty happy to put my bell bottoms on ROFL when my youngest daughter found them.

Got some of my pullets laying! So pumped! I put a EE and Salmon Fav for comparison at each end...but two are from my Golden Cuckoo Marans and the speckled one is either from my Black Copper Marans or my Blue Marans! I'm going to try to keep a closer eye out today to see who's laying! Really surprised at the size of a pullet egg. But wow what a great shape. .they are definitely darker than that flash gives them justice for.
First eggs! Very nice.

This is our first time with chickens, and it's like planting a vegetable garden for us. We aren't eggspecting any eggs until early August, the wait is already killing me!

We are trying to get chickens in Noblesville,IN. Please help spread the word to contact us at [email protected] and also sign our petition https://www.change.org/petitions/th...ize-chickens-within-the-corporate-city-limits ! Thanks guys!

I signed it. Now there are 77 sigs. I find it hard to believe Noblesville won't allow it. Glad to sign and help, keep working on it!
We got the run done! Finally. ..

... Not so helpful when trying to screw on a door.

Nice job on the run construction. Ours is coming along, should get it done this weekend. I love the roosting limbs in there! We have an old wagon wheel that I'll hang on one corner, and probably some limbs like you did.

This is like being a proud grandma or something...showing everyone my photos

Love your birds, especially the colors on Miss Sweden. Rooster boy looks like, hey, what you doin' over there? Takin' my pic? Did I give you permission?

ok my fellow BYCers, need some advice. My first flock is now 8 weeks old approximately. I have two silver laced wyandottes which i am unsure of the sexes yet. i do know that their wattles seemed to grow in first. as of yet neither one of them have started crowing. any thooughts on what they might be? this is my first season as a chicken owner and not sure. wish i would have taken better pictures. combs are ruby red.
Yes look like cockerels to me. We have 2 SLW, one is definitly a boy, and the other is surely a girl They are about 8 weeks now, the boy has a big red comb and waddles, the girl almost nothing.

And since everyone is having move in day, or finished construction day, here are a few update pictures of our run construction:

This weekend should be the completion, if the weather forecast is accurate. Saturday should be a decent day.

OMG the chicken math got me all messed up and also found its way into the goat equations Good thing I had a 40x50 horse barn to coop and pen so far the count reads 78 new chickens. 3 Pygmy goats, 2 milk goats, and 1fainting goat. Three of the goats are bottle babies. I will not go back to a livestock auction for a LONG LONG time. After a very busy weekend everyone is comfortable.
Very nice! Fainting goat! I'm trying (not too hard at this point) to convince my wife that we need a couple of those. How much room do they require?

Well I must quit my job....... To keep up with all the posts!!!;)
