INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Welcome to the Hoosier thread or as I just thought of: Hoosier-Chick-iana Society. I may have to jokingly suggest that idea. I wonder how long it would take until I am over run and pecked apart? I am not yet a chicken owner, but am going to be a chicken tender at lealst for my sister-in-law and my brother who are preparing to set up for raising chickens near Tri -Lakes.

Oops ! Maybe I already have.

Thats it you are going to have to stop posting super cute and too hard to resist silkie chicks, I am struggling to not make a drive.
;-)
Thanks! I was worried if I had mutt chickens, one day some chicken buff was going to see in my coop and freak out! Have you ever hatched an egg from a banty/standard cross? I don't have any banty roos yet, but I may still incubate the banty eggs if it won't cause the chick inside to have a defect.
I have a couple "D'Uh-Whattheckareyou" ( what we call our D'Uccle mixes) that hatched in the last two weeks. Supposed to be full Porcelain D'Uccles but apparently when my kids let the showgirls and polish out accidentally while it was the D'Uccle's turn to free range, somebody "jumped" my girls. I didn't know and didn't think they were out more than a couple of minutes and didn't know until I had set the eggs. The truth came out when they hatched. Anyway, the eggs were normal tiny bantam eggs but after they hatched they grew faster than usual and are a in between LF and bantam in size. There have been no defects at all in our crosses.
I've been busy the last day or so so I haven't gotten to respond to messages or posts yet. I will get there. :) To who asked about where I got my silkies, I got them from a farm in marion. She isn't selling anymore right now that I know of. I just happened to catch her at a time she had a pair to sell. I traded her my cochin becuase her LF rooster is getting older and she wanted to have another. Anyway here they are. The boy isn't SQ but he will breed nicely. (he has 4 toes on one of his feet instead of five. They look identical. I named them Ashes and Booker. They are molting so they look a little scraggly. This is the pullet.... I couldn't get a picture of both without them blending together. lol
They are adorable and will fill in nicely after this "awkward teenage phase". Great deal! Congrats :)

Boy you got that right. This is so not like last Spring, highs in the 80s for a lot of March. Today is our first forecast day of 80 or higher, 81 today and tomorrow. Then the rain moves in again, boo. And colder temps for the weekend
I don't know how to tell you this, so I'll just be blunt.

Someone sold you feather dusters camouflogued as chickens!
Oh dear, thank you for the heads up! I wondered why my floors have been so clean since I got them ;)

Is 4 months still considered teenagers?

I would think so but that may just be how I describe the phase between chick and fully grown. Always so awkward. lol Silkies mature much more slowly than most other breeds. While a Leghorn may be mature and laying by 20 weeks, a Silkie wouldn't be until 8-10 months so they are "teenagers" a lot longer in my opinion.

I have a non chicken question. Does anyone know of a program that can record the output from a computer including the screen and sound? I was wanting to make copies of some videos I found online to play when I don't have internet access.
