INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm at around $600' still need to buy felt paper for the roof and possibly more shingles. I have about 4 bundles left over from doing my house. Also need some corners and j trim for the siding which came off the shed that a tree took out. I was able to get some wood discounted from lowes in their cull area, but most is new wood. I will be reusing the uprights from the old shed in their run area, and I still need to get the fencing for that. Uh still so much to do and I hurt, lol, I'm too old to be doing this! I just ache from head to toe!

I haven't let mine free range yet, too many small pieces in the yard ATM, so they get part of my garden and a grassy area that I made sure was good and clean, lol. I truly can't wait until I can just sit and watch them in their house and run.

an aquantance buys all his lumber at lowe's because he's in there often enough for little things for projects on his way home he has a friend there and sometimes they get so many culls or left over boards from cuts that he gets a truck load for 5 to 10 bucks just to get rid of a large stack.

Haha -- I like the new name you gave me. No, I wouldn't keep him although I hope he lives happily ever after in the tree near my back door! He is so sweet. I really didn't want to interfere with Mother Nature in the first place, but I just could not leave him out to be snatched up by a hawk or to starve. He kept running back to us.

strssd mom~ Our crab apple tree dropped its petals a week ago and left a pretty carpet like yours. The chickens loved to eat the petals. The crab apple in bloom is the only time that our tree looks beautiful. However, it's going to make a great squirrel home because of several hollow limbs with openings as you can see in the photo above. Before we decide to leave him outside, I'll send DH up a ladder with a saw or something to enlarge a hole if needed. ha The squirrel has already been adding bits of leaves to one of the holes. The first night he spends outside, I will probably be in a sleeping bag at the base of the tree! I'll be like you all who worried about putting your baby chicks in the coop the first night. Btw, strssd mom, your chicken loving doggie Berren blends in nicely with his feathery bands and tail! Pretty dog!
Thanks! Berren thinks he is one of the chickens. LOL

The squirrel is adorable. I would love to work with our wildcare rehab center, but at the moment we live to far away. A friend of mine rehabilitated a few squirrels this past year. They were so cute!

Too fast: we were on the paved road the road was just under 3' of water so no worries on depth or we'd be in a boat and I had to stand out on the side of that thing and do the work. The owner built that thing because the road floods there every year and all the houses are on stilts

Yes I got all the framing for the floor and the 3/4" t&g flooring for $20, made my day let me tell you, those t&g floor boards at $35 here and all that was wrong was the tongue part of the board had 3" broke off in the center of the board and no damage to the board surface area itself. I got those for $2.00 each. I was doing the happy dance all the way home lol!

Great pics! When the hens drop down like that, they are ready for a roo to mate. Mine didnt start doing it for me until all the roosters were gone. I guess I'm top rooster around here now lol

So I'm the top rooster hmm I kinda like that. Should she be laying soon then, she seems kinda young 14 weeks, but as I said I'm new and really just don't know.

This is Alfie, our English Bulldog. He'll be 8 next month. He is our couch potato. And this is the puppy. Talia is our 8 month old Doberman. I had forgotten what an effort puppies were! Our last Doberman was a rescue so he was 6 y/o when we got him and I thought he had energy. Talia runs me ragged. She's pretty funny with the chicks so far too. Can't quite figure out what to make of them, but she's being very good with them as we are trying to get her accustomed to them.
Beautiful puppies! I LOVE dobies! I have always been a big dog person until I got my min pin. I love the less food and less vet expenses (flea and heart worm prevention, etc). However I have a feeling I will always have a large/giant breed. Irish wolfhound is next on my list for large breed. My Frenchie is still young, but haven't ad any issues with him yet. He is a pretty laid back dog though. Puppy classes were almost a waste of money he was such a good puppy lol. I think I will always own a Frenchie, they are a hoot to have.
