INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Quick question, my little broody old english hatched 2 chicks today. A tiny old english and a buff orplington that looks like a giant in comparison but so cute! She has the babies on the ground (in the coop that I locked up so nithing can get themm including othe chickens) should I take e the chicks and put her back on the nest? Or can I just put the eggs in the incubator?

There is no guarantee that the hen will go back to the eggs since she has already left the nest. The best bet would be to put the eggs in the incubator. I would candle them to make sure that they are fertile.

Warning!!! Buffalo Gnats Are Back!! I only have time to give a quick "heads up" before leaving again.

They can quickly kill birds. Please google them or look them up here on BYC.

Vanilla mixed in water, vanilla body spray and vanilla carpet spray has always worked as a repellent for us.

People have lost entire flocks to these gnats. Please look them up and be prepared.

X2 it is beautiful, excellent workmanship! Thanks for sharing the link, Showing my DH hehehe

Thank you Jchny2000 and Quinstar! I hope its nice when its done. I will post some pics if we ever finish it, lol. Can someone please tell me what DH stands for because I see it all the time and I'm just ignorant. If I'm supposed to be calling my husband names, I need to know what they are so I can use them appropriately, lol.

Have a good afternoon!

Hey all! I'm starting to feel overwhelmed!! I went outside with the chickens and my EE hadn't laid an egg in 2 days which isn't normal for her and so I decided to just check to see if her vent was moist looking to ensure she isn't egg bound and I saw some lice!!! All 3 of my hens have some on their butt areas. 2 weeks ago I found worms in poop and now I found lice! I've have them for barely a month and I just got 4 chicks last week and now I feel like a terrible chicken mom! I scoop poo from the coop everyday, I got DE 2 wks ago when I found out about the worms and I've been sprinkling that everywhere but was afraid I'd use to much and make them sick so just a sprinkle everywhere. What do I do to fix all this?? What am I doing wrong?? All help is appreciated!!

He/she is still working on getting out. Just figured I would wait and see? I was told not to put them in the incubator by someone else so? This is new to me iv incubated twice but this is the 1st time iv had a hen hatch anything. Thank you for your reply.

Hogster, somebody should have had a video camera! You might have made AFV!

Shawna, hope you're breathing easier after your rant. We all need those at times.
