Ahhh! Tears!!! My babies... I'm glad they are happy though. The buff brahma is looking different in just a week! The partridge looks like he is getting his pretty green feathers. Give my Oliver pets for me. :) Here are your girls enjoying the grass and sun after their baths on Saturday.....

Hey All I need some help, What do you guys use for a liquid calcium supplement? Oyster shell just isn't cutting it for one of my girls, poor girl lays everyday. I have a big bowl so they can help themselves also started adding it in the fed but still getting very very thin shelled eggs from her and the other 2 girls are eating her eggs, this is not a problem I want to get outta hand! Thanks All!

I heard you can give them crushed egg shells as a suppliment for calcium. I would use the other chickens eggs to do this with... Maybe boil a few of the eggs and don't peel them, just smash them up throughly and serve. With the boiled egg they will think it is a wonderful treat and the none oyster eater should goggle the egg up.
The other eggs being eaten is not a good habit to start as they will continue doing it.
I remove all broken eggs so they do not get in the habit of enjoying those round tasty treats.

Too Fast: oh the old salt shaker to get a pet bird trick. I always used to get in trouble for sneaking the saltshaker out side to catch a bird. Of course my Grandfather who told me that never had to share the blame.

Vickichiki: I may have an EE rooster if you are really looking for one. At this point I am unsure if he is a EE or an old english, but in the 4 way fight to stay he isn't my favorite. Nice enough but he just can't compete with my seabright. He is a bantam. Oh and are the leghorns LF or Bantam? if they are bantam maybe we could trade?
Well fudge... I need a LF EE rooster and the leghorns are all LF....in a parallel universe, that trade would work...

I am going to try feeding the shells back to them. I always remove the shell and whatever mess is left. They seem to be only interested in the yoke but only her eggs thus far thank goodness!

The buff was stretching out when I took his pic. Maybe thats why he looks different. The chicks look good. I think the little white ones will be a smaller bird. My small white ones are still small but the others are growing like a weed.

Ha, yes. I bet it's hard even for him to keep up with this thread.
You better not dis the mamma.

My mother had a wooden paddle, with holes drilled into it so it would swing faster. Sometimes I still feel the sting, decades later.
I'm non-violent. I don't believe in spanking and I will never own a gun. : - ) Old Salt will really go all Rush Limbaugh on me now!

The boys look great! Believe it or not the chicks actually liked the baths I think lol. Do you have any idea why a couple of them are missing feathers around the base of their tails? They don't seem to pick at each other at all. I took a few picks of my other kids today... I hope they will all get along when it is time to blend them lol.
