INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hey All I need some help, What do you guys use for a liquid calcium supplement? Oyster shell just isn't cutting it for one of my girls, poor girl lays everyday. I have a big bowl so they can help themselves also started adding it in the fed but still getting very very thin shelled eggs from her and the other 2 girls are eating her eggs, this is not a problem I want to get outta hand! Thanks All!

At garden store, buy a bag of bone meal and try that. You may have to mix it with their feed to get them to eat it. Bone meal is relatively cheap. Try it, heck, it might even work.

Found it here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/newsearch?search=calcium+suppliment

It's driving me nuts not to be able to show off my chickens!!! My phone just won't allow it! Hope this isn't against any rules but I have a few chick/chicken pictures on instagram for anyone who loves to browse them, like me! @moleysteele
I welcome ANY comments and/or kind suggestions.

Here is one of my 2 1/2 week old Blue Cochins.

Nice little bird. Didn't leave a deposit on me.

Photo would be better if Piped had come to Lebanon and taken it for me.

Don't know what phone you have, but most have some way to download pictures from the phone to your computer, under, for instance, "My Photos" folder. You then use the "embed image" icon on BYC to include the photo from the "My Photos" folder on your computer.

I have a Windows 8

Nokia 820

and had to fool around for a while to figure out how to do it without having to go through the marvelous "cloud" crud. I finally got there by using Windows Explorer to copy and paste the files to a "My Photos" folder. Hassle.

Hope this helps.

what I have that works well is PDZ actually. I use it under the roost, and they eat it like grit. Their eggs are rock hard!

Shawna, here's your SLW roo. My wife thinks he looks like a bald eagle.

The 1-month guineas like to sleep on their waterer. Fair weather or foul.

The nipple waterers have a drawback. For each drop of water going into the bird, several land on the floor, soaking the hay. Partial solution; cut off the bottom of another bucket to make a tray and put it under the nipple bucket to catch drippage. It seems to work so far. The chicks drink what collects in the overflow tray. For the large birds, I had to screw the tray to the floor so they wouldn't scoot it all over. The chicks took to the nipple waterer so well that I have removed the font waterer.

Excellent discussion about PDZ at:

Thanks, Crafty. I didn't know what it was, so I looked it up. It costs about $10 per 25# bag TSC and cuts down odor in addition to hardening eggshells. Apparently, a little goes a long way. We'll see.

I'm gonna go get a bag tomorrow. My wife thinks the chickens stink. I think they smell great. Brings back boyhood memories.

sorry em but I must admit that I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems posting pics (or changing my avitar) from my phone on this site. I have been dying to show everyone pics of little momma (sjes an old English actually named honey) amd her babies I call the odd balls ( she hatched an old english chick and a buff orpington chick neither have been appropriately named YET. LOL. The buff is afraid of everything so he gets under her wing and will pop just his little head out. It cracks me up. And then im forced to take numerous photos which I can't even share :( lol
