DH is pulling a face at me, somthing about too many already, what do you mean seperate cages for breeding etc..... might be one of those secret ventures without him

I think that would be a stunning male to cross with my fluff balls.

Hi! I'm in South Bend. I'm just about ready to order chicks. Trying to get through the conflicting issues with local ordinances. South Bend just passed an ordinance allowing chickens in the city. I live at a county address just outside city annexed area. I'm being told by local authorities I need 5 acres. I've spoken with my county council member. The ordinance reads "agricultural uses." Not sure what I'm going to do yet.-Ralph

Silk n Fluff - Sorry to hear your lil one is not doing so good. Crappy part about owning pets is the inevitability of their death. It blows when they die of old age, it also blows when it is premature.
I have recently put down 3 dogs in two years (all siblings with cancer). It never gets easier. I got weepy at each one and I will get weepy over the remaining two (the remaining siblings) when they go.
It will be ok and things will feel better soon

Do any of you order chicks from hatcheries? And if so can you recommend a good 1? Iv been looking at a couple and iv been reading alot of not so good reviews. I don't like the idea of having babies shipped through the mail but iv run out of options and have to do something. Promised my 6 year old Antwerp quail chickens and have failed miserably at finding any locally or even semi locally. Lol any help to get me out of the dog house would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

sorry em but I must admit that I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems posting pics (or changing my avitar) from my phone on this site. I have been dying to show everyone pics of little momma (sjes an old English actually named honey) amd her babies I call the odd balls ( she hatched an old english chick and a buff orpington chick neither have been appropriately named YET. LOL. The buff is afraid of everything so he gets under her wing and will pop just his little head out. It cracks me up. And then im forced to take numerous photos which I can't even share

I can download to my computer but I don't have internet on it. I no its weird. The only net service I get in my area is dial up. But I don't even have a house phone. Or a tv for that matter. I guess I'm kind of a cave man? Lol

I know, I think he is stunning and would make some beautiful chicks with my girls.. The only thing I am humming and arhhhing at is his age... the girls are still young and probably not ready for such a vivacious male yet.
