INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

thank you. I was Googling hatcheries and found cackle? I believe that was it. They have what I want and some I didn't no that I wanted until I seen them lol. Has anyone had any experience with them? They're are reasonabley priced but have just about as many bad reviews as they do good ones. I will look into Meyer also. I think I may be being to picky? Lol sorry for the bother.
It's your money and your birds. Be picky. Be very picky.

Be aware of bad reviews. Someone went to the trouble to warn others of bad service/merchandise.

It's better to research who to or not to buy from rather than research why you shouldn't have bought from who you did.

No bother. That's what this site is for.

I believe ideal sells them too and has a great selection of birds. They may have a $25 minimum, not a number of chicks.

What is everybody fermenting now that the weather is warmer? I had been using cracked corn but don't want to continue that into the summer heat. Pellets? And how about for the little folks since chick starter is always crumbles?

"What does this button do?" Unfortunately, that is the power button...

Quinstar posted: I really wanted a raised coop cause I love the look and the shade for the ladies, and somehow we ended up with this. We are thinking of going with a corrugated steel roof and then we have some old cedar fence boards for the siding. Now all we need is a name!

Just a thought~ I've heard that steel roofs are loud when it rains or hails, etc. Our coop has a corrugated clear plastic (polycarbonate) roof not only to lighten the entire coop and run, but also to allow in the natural light cycle from sunrise to sunset. That way the hens don't have to set an alarm clock to know it's time to get up. haha Any thoughts on roofing pros and cons?

I use some rolled oats, but mix very little in.. I use a cup of ferment juice when I set up buckets tho, just am not adding as much grain. But I do my FF slightly different then most people do.

U can ferment just about anything. I am using a mix of cc and layer. Also doing chick starter for babies.

One important note on fermented feed, do not use medicated feed for your ferment, it cancels each other out, Lots of effort for nothing.
Medicated can also harm waterfowl.
I use medicated for my turkey poults for their first few days, turkey are so wimpy until they get going then they go on 24% chick feed, fermented.
