Those are some beautiful birds! I love th pics of Marge!

I just checked my chickens and it looks like I may have a new layer in the next day or so. My barred rock has been hanging around the nests for a few days but this time she showed more attitude and stayed inthe box even when I walked by it.

On a different note, with these colder temps, is anyone else's deep litter freezing to the point the chickens won't stir it up. They were dust bathing in it a week or so ago but nothing not not even scratching.

Note to self: make sure the tractor will start before building a coop in the garage! My plan was to drag it out with the tractor, but since it wouldn't start I was left with using a 2 wheel dolly and a piece of PVC. Definitely not something I want to move again by myself!

That being said, Im already for the chickens! Picking them up tomorrow after work!

Yay! Post pics please!!! If you have any splash pullets in that herd that you want to part with, let me know. :) I may have some extra boys if you need them for breeding. Just waiting on them to mature a bit to tell.

It was getting dark when I finally got it in place. I'll definitely post pics, just not sure when. I really hate going to work when it's dark and coming home when it's dark! They will have to be cramped for a couple weeks until I can get another one built. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I think I have a total of $50 in the coop, $20 in fencing, and $40 for fence posts (I took the last of the posts dad had for the last pens I made :( ). I was able to make a 3x6 coop with a 24x24 run. I will be adding $20 to the coop to repaint it all white. The clearance metal roofing/siding I bought is a hideous blue!

So I got all of my girls little victim jackets on tonight. They keep them warm, so they all got one. Well except for lavender. In her broody last few months, she has become quite the spoiled pansy. I'm not sure if any of you have ever tried to put a sweater on a cat, and then watched said cat fall over on one side and act like it no longer has the ability to walk, almost as if it had a sudden onset of brain damage, but that is what happened when I put a hen apron on little miss priss Lavender. Seriously the funniest thing I have seen in awhile. So she is not wearing a coat. The other girls just wiggled their wings around a bit and went on with their day as if nothing was different. You would have thought I just turned her entire world upside down. Little drama queen. she is so weird. My favorite, but a weirdo still.
