My 3 chickens have laid 3 eggs each day for 2 days. Have 23 eggs in my fridge lol

That is enough for 4 batches of the family choc chip cookie recipe. The recipe makes about 8 dozen cookies so you could have enough eggs for over 30 dozen cookies with 3 eggs to spare for breakfast or 3 loaves of bread.

M2H. That is what I thought it was also but was never completely sure.

My chickens, ducks and turkey are laying like crazy! I can't get rid of eggs fast enough. I have 7 dozen in the fridge today. It is -13 here before adding in windchill.

Hello again, I was wrong about the frost bite. The 2 that had it before have it worse tonight. The waddles felt frozen at the tips of them, they are hard. So my question is, since its supposed to be even colder tonight, should I bring them in the house or leave them out in the coup? I'm afraid if I bring them inside, they will get to warm to fast, and then outside in the coup again once this cold spell is gone. My uncle who is 910 and was raised with chickens, said to bring them inside. But he's 90 and that goes against the advice he has given me in the past. The stories hes told me. All 20 chickens are snug together on about 9-10' of roost so everyone is warm, feet, and tummies. Just those 2 with cold hard waddles and comb tips. Any advice?

do nothing, watch for infection, maybe check to make sure there is enough venting, but in weather like this it is a fine line between enough and too much.

Does anybody have ideas on how to thaw a combination lock. Can't get into the shed to get to the chicken and rabbit feed. Had to feed the rabbits cheerio's today. The chickens feeder still had plenty but they will need more either tomorrow or the next day. They got some cheerio's today (they really liked them). I don't want to ruin the lock by cutting it off but that is my option if the weather doesn't let up so I can get out and get more feed. I also don't want to spend that much time out in sub zero temps to saw it off but am afraid of breaking the hasp due to the cold temps if I use a hammer to try to break the lock. any suggestions are appreciated.

will do, thanks. That's what I though, but once I talked with my Uncle, I started to question myself. There is plenty of ventilation and no drafts. I've stood in that coop a lot in the last 2 days making sure any draft is covered. Ventilation is just at the top of 7' roof. These are the two that think they need to roost in the rafter area. I have moved them down and tried to close off the area they were roosting at.

Shy of taking a hair dry outside, I'd probably cut it off or just break the hasp. They need good food to help keep the warm. In our area its supposed to be a high of 30 by Thursday. Maybe just go out and buy more food until it thaws naturally?

Have u tried pouring hot water all over it. When my finger got stuck to the latch I got someone to bring hot water and it made it loosen up.
