just some pic's I thought might help and it gave me a reason to use my new camera... watch out every one now I'll drive you nuts with pic's,,, lolMe too! I was hoping someone would see what I've done and tell me how to do it better. Bingo! I will wrap it when I get back from picking up the kids. She's not in good enough shape in my opinion to tip it but I could weigh it down with some sand in the bottom or use some heavy Velcro strips on the bottom I the pan. I'm not sure. My DH would undoubtably suggest some way to use bungee cord or tie down straps.
I'm just worried about her not getting enough grit while she's there and how long do I let her hang around before I know that she will or won't heal. She's my buddy so I can keep doing this for quite awhile.
Now my too is just killing me. He's still as drunk as ever and I was already hoping to rehome him before he got sick. Now I don't want to take a chance of giving someone else's birds whatever is troubling him.
Personally, I think too many multi posts together can be confusing keeping track of who said what. But I'm a little confused to begin with!![]()
I bet they look good, but I can't imagine cleaning bird poo out of the wickerOkay, then! Two nesting boxes it is!
I saw a pin where someone just used wicker baskets and that looked pretty cozy.
I don't think you can drive me nuts with pics. I appreciate the visuals.just some pic's I thought might help and it gave me a reason to use my new camera... watch out every one now I'll drive you nuts with pic's,,, lol![]()

I turn the cage upside down lay the roll of plastic on the floor and pull the sheet across the bottom and down the other side to about 1/2 way down to the floor. then I punched holes on either side of the cage bar that I used to secure the plastic to make sure first you have over hang on both front and back, then I took an old boot lace threaded it through one hole and out the other and tied it in a knot. then cut the excess off, do 1 side then the front then the back and then the other side, pulling on each to take out the winkles, once everything is tied into place cut the roll side 1/2 way up cage, and then go to the front and trim out your door. fold the front and back like you would if you were wrapping a x-mass gift. Hope this helps.

Haha, well, your comments in blue helped a lot. That's why I use brown in my posts-- it's easier to keep comments apart, plus it's my way of "branding" myself. Haha Just kidding.
That's too bad about Peanut Butter-- he is striking looking, but it's not good to physically strike the hens! I found it When Nene's brothers turned into cockerels, I found it stressful to have them attacking the hens. Too bad that roos haven't been bred through the years to be more gentle. Occasionally, I'll hear of a nice roo-- like kabhyper's.
Btw, how is pbirdhaven doing? Is she still on the Show Circuit?
chick rookie ~ I'm glad things are going better for you and your chickens!
me too and thank you, y am I typing in brown???? my computer has a mind of its own I guess...![]()
I'm not sure what happened m2h but your coding says visibility hidden. I haven't heard from Pb lately. Quote: Mine have never pooped in the nest boxes. (And I don't let them sleep in there...they only lay eggs in them.)
If you put down a layer of wood chips then some dry grass clippings from the lawn mowing, it makes a nice nesting material...and if there happens to be a surprise poo, just grab the handful of grass and toss it out. Wicker shouldn't be an issue i would think except for the dustiness. But it sure is easier if you want to clean one out to just wipe down painted wood or plastic.

They are pretty girls and especially the bottom one. What kind is she? My chickens will only try to sleep in the nest boxes if one is sick. Its my first sign that something is wrong. The Chicken Chick suggests stapling curtains over the boxes to discourage that behavior.Mine have never pooped in the nest boxes. (And I don't let them sleep in there...they only lay eggs in them.)
