Any PBS fans? Sherlock Holmes starts tonight--after Downton Abbey.

Looking forward to them both!

We watched them both, although I fell asleep during Sherlock -- too many late nights!

I agree about going to the vet. My dh is going out of town for work and asked me if I wanted anything when he comes back. I said, yes, please save your money and don't kill me when I tell you about taking Lucy to the vet. He wouldn't really but he is still struggling with my PET chickens. I'm not sure where my nearest one is yet but I drop of three kids and pick them up again at three different times each day. The scheduling will be a challenge since he won't be here. I will check out all this info. I will also be trimming her vent feathers.
Mine loved their stick as well. After about two weeks if changing shavings we gave up and put sand in the bottom of ours. It was easier and less smelly to clean with a litter scoop. They would spill their water a lot too so we ended up buying the brooder bottle caps from the chicken fountain guy. It was $5 for two with free shipping. They fit on almost any water or soda bottle. I wish I had known that with the first group.

Who's the "chicken fountain guy"?!  We always end up with wet bedding from the waterer with our chicks.  I should check this out before we get our next babies.

OMG... My very first sewing project in 7th grade Home Ec class was the little blue skirt on the right hand side pattern. The pattern was a "few" years old (minis were out and maxis were in) so I received a poor grade for being "out of fashion" but I wore that thing til it fell apart!!

Ah, memories!!  Sorry you got a poor grade on your skirt.  Your teacher should have graded solely based on the clothing construction itself -- not her personal preferences -- especially for a firsttime sewing project.  Obviously you loved it & thought it was great.  That's all that really matters (I tell my daughter that with her 4-H sewing projects now!)

Fashion forward was actually a part of the grade. I was tall (5'7") and super skinny (98 lbs) so minis were more my style than those long boring skirts! My Mom hated it too said I was trying t show my assets a little too much! I wore that thing so much it finally fell apart!

I finally got a telling crow from this handsome lad this morning:) At least it sounded like a strangled crow. I think it was his first crow ever! I guess he was just being held back from letting his inner Roo sing out by little Linus who left a few days ago. This breed is so docile it is unreal. I think I am going to trek to Ohio to get a partridge female for him (unless anyone will have chicks in month or so). I am also considering tackling a Lavender Cochin project next year :) Chewie the black Cochin Roo - 8 months old
Bantam? I have 3 partridge hens and a Roo. They have yet to lay, but as soon as they do, I'm debating rehoming them. If you can wait, I'll eventually have fertile eggs. My group can't be much older than yours. My Roo started crowing in the fall...

The 15 week olds Henley Gracie Lily Lumi (getting a red comb I think :( ..) Chance Belle Sheldon The parents (except for snow who has chicks) Ashes Suki Dolly (she has a twisted foot, but gets around fine) Luna (going through a molt, her beard is gone lol) Booker the roo [/quote Love the look of Silkies!!! I am so excited to get mine from Brad. I'm hoping they are as sweet and friendly as they look! You have some really beautiful birds!!!

On another thread, someone shared the RatZapper trap which I'd never seen before. No poison for the birds to get into and they can't accidentally be snapped in a trap.

I use glue traps, (the chickens can't get to them)
Question for all breeders.....

I know that Bantys don't have trouble hatching out LF eggs but does the same hold true the other way around? I have the four Delaware hens and if any of them want to go broody II would like to have them hatch out some Banty eggs. Is that asking for trouble? Will they break them or will they know they need to be delicate?
You shouldn't havea problem> i mean ocassionally a broody will crack eggs, but it isn't really more likley one way or another.
