INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Did they have a falling out.. both happening today tells me they were discussing who is who

:hugs I am so sorry

Are they Cayuga? they are tooo adorable! :love

Probably so, if her sinuses or respiratory tract is effected it will affect her balance.

Indian runner ducks! I originally wanted Cayugas, but my husband talked me into these. I'm not regretting the decision at all!

hello all, how's everybody doing today???? just wanted to stop in before work. i can't believe they didn't call us off, and only going in to work 4 hrs!!!!! i shouldn't complain at all, but i don't see how it's worth 4 hrs... any hoooo

i wish i could submit that picture, but it actually came across my FB feed last night and i just had to share! talk to you all later!

Duck bath!

Seriously, these two girls and their cute factor is through the roof. My husband has been as giddy as a school girl. I'm glad I've finally found something for him to get as excited, as I have been, with this crazy hobby of mine.
adorable little ones. So much prettier than my khakis will be when they come next week. Funny how some ducklings are ugly but turn out ok looking.

Hi All,

I was just out cleaning my coop and two of my Cochins have poopy butts. Its not bad, just a little messy. I didn't see any poo on the boards that looked strange or watery, so I don't think its diarrhea. Could this be normal for them on occasion? Should I just trim the fluff off the back to help them out a bit? I have been giving all the chickens Rooster Booster in their food this week, so maybe that is contributing to their issue.

I have had this issue with one of my chicks. It started a couple days after hatching and still at it 3 1/2 weeks later. I started with the prescription drops from the vet I had from another silkie with this issue (only one eye though), then I went to antibiotic in the water, the. Vetercyn, and now back to a different antibiotic in the water. This time I'm using Denagard. I've stopped all eye drops. Today is day 3 on denagard and they haven't been matted shut the last couple days. Today one was completely clear and the other had gunk on it but not matted shut. I will continue the antibiotic for another 2-4 days. If this doesn't work, I'm not sure where I'm going to go next. If it works or you are interested in trying it, let me know. I got a large bottle of it with the silkies when I bought them.

Is it common for these sorts of things to happen to silkies? If I was having issues like these with a bird that animal would be a cull. Now if it was the entire flock I would be looking at housing and other outside issues that could be causing it. To me a bird prone to this sort of thing is weak and should not be allowed to breed. Not trying to be mean, I am just curious and trying to understand.
Thanks!

I just watched your video. Your babies are seriously cute. My son wants ducks badly, but we do not have any watery areas for them now. Our creek is so far down the ravine I'd be worried about coons all the time!

Yeah, our yard is really not that big(2 city lots), but come spring it's going to feel a bit smaller. Lol! I have plans to purchase an old cast iron bath to turn into a pond. I'm trying to keep from looking like Elly May Clampett by tying into my artsy creative side to come up with a mini pond solution. I will probably go the kiddie pool route until I figure out what I am doing.
Who really knows what any of us are really truly up to...

My buff orpington had this happen and we trimmed her feathers around her vent. We haven't had a problem with her since then.

I know a gal that had the messy bottoms on her girls all the time until she changed the feed she was giving. She's not from Indiana, but maybe she'll weigh in to tell her story. @armorfirelady
