INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Quote: Wonderful news! If its as durable as it sounds, its worth every penny not to worry about predators.

She showed up at 1130 last night. My DH heard something hitting the window in the den, when I went to see what it was...lol she was jumping at the window! I went out n grabbed her, before she hurt herself, which was a bad idea, she'd bn sprayed by a skunk!!! Thank goodness for tomato juice!!!!
UGH, yep tomato juice works wonders, trust me.I have been full on sprayed before, it makes you wish you were dead

We have a few other turkey keepers here! And a few of us also raise coturnix, I have about 60 chicks right now lol. Post pics as much as you like, we love them!!!
Other livestock, pets etc is fine too. Our only rule is we keep chat family clean per BYC guidelines.

yankeedoodling ~ Welcome to the Indiana Thread! Please see info about our thread on page 2347 at the bottom post 23470.
I've just learned about another breed-- haven't heard of Norwegian Jaerhorn chickens before. Your little pullet is so beautiful!!
Your Seramas are stunning, too!
I spoke with Andrew with Naptown Chickens today about his coops. He states before he started making his own he used to buy from Mark. So his is basically the same coop with some modifications for better security, durability and easier to move by one person. He's selling his coop with run (without all the start up stuff) for $650. It's still more than what I want to pay, but ordered one anyway. He's going to deliver it (free) in a couple of weeks.
lajohnston~ That's great! I'm glad it worked out and that you're supporting their organization.

Love all the chick photos from everyone! chick rookie -- minmin -- Urbanmom -- Primal Momma -- kabhyper (I want your cochin baby) -- Peaceful Walls
Backyard Bitten ~ I like that wooden perch. I've tried making brooder perches, but it's hard to make them not wobble. We don't have an Orschein store.

minmin ~ That is a crazy story about your lost chicken's tangle with a skunk! Glad you have her back-- and that you had tomato juice!

Looks to me like someone set up a pull behind popup tent camper???
it was there again when the dogs woke me up for their 2 am poody break. Soooo I got dressed and went for a walk. I got just a little ways into the woods and someone has been building a shed. and the work lights re showing through the windows and trees, the guy was there and said he was sorry for waking me and spooking me but with his hours this is the only time he has to work on it. ( something just not right here but.... )
didn't answer when I asked if he recently bought the land, or WHY build IN the woods, and why do you have camo screen over it???? I know the farmer that owns this land and will go see him after church today. Just weird!!!!!

Hello new people! :welcome :frow

Love the pics of chicks and bunnies! I need to get mine up the EE's are looking like little soldiers with their tail and wing feathers coming in and patches on their shoulders :D

Is it normal for them to lay stretched out? My dad says it is and they seem absolutely fine but it just looks really weird. Lol like they are sleeping on the butcher block with their necks stretched out in front of them. I'll have to get some pics of them sleeping its so cute.

Also I'd like to thank all of you for your kind words concerning the loss of my family's dog it means a lot to me. :)

My dad wants me to get some turkey hens. I think it'd be good and we'll get free meals when its mating season for the wild toms around us. Having a hen would bring them in wouldn't they? If not that's fine I don't know how I'd feel having a bunch of wild turkeys around my chickens :)

Those are really pretty birds yankeedoodle love that roo's colors. I've never heard of half of your birds breeds, I'm going to look them up Jaerhon sounds fun :p

Something about that guys story doesn't add up either. My DBF is a hunter and thinks since the guy is putting camo screen on it... that if he didn't purchase the land out right, then it may be an illegal hunting shed. I would definitely stay up on this guy because he may be poaching and on top of that,on land he doesn't own!! And do you really want someone you don't know hunting that close to your property?? Sounds fishy....hope you to the bottom of it!!

M2H, I love the Orschlens store that i go to. They are very helpful and the employees there are always willing to help carry your feed bags out to the car for you when you have a cranky toddler accompanying you. They are a really nice, family oriented store, a lot better than the TSC that is near me and Orschlens prices are a lot more decent. I go there about every two weeks, so when i go back, i can grab a couple of roosting bars for you if you want!? Just let me know! Even my newest baby chicks i bought yesterday are even giving it a go!
