INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Grr after this hatch my little giant will either b be destroyed or modified depending on how this hatch goes. My thermostat has been turned up all the way and will only get to 100 which is not bad but it fluctuates alot not going below 96. Which im really not liking. Im on day 19 and now having trouble with humidity staying up. I have plenty of water in there. I had to take a desk lamp and aim it over the incubator. Now my temp is staying at 100 and humidity at 60. Hope it stays like this and they still hatch with no problems. I see alot of rocking which is awesome. What good is the thermostat if i still have to have light hovering over the incubator. absolutely nothing! Lol

I was mad for about 25mins too when I found out the seller of the modern pair I bought didn't ship them out today as they said they would (second time they have done this)! Then I found out she is now sending an additional hen at no charge! I'm happy now lol
When I first started reading your post, I was like yep I would be ticked....but the additional hen changes everything lol

This is our new pup. We have had her for a week. She is part collie, blue heeler and aussie

anybody that incubates quail, can you tell me what the humidity has to be??? hoping to set my eggs but i can't get my humidity to be stable. Also, i know this has been covered before, but what's the best thermometer and humidity checker for a moved air incubator???

I'm with you on that! My DH bought me the farm innovators forced air bator and I just can't seem to get it right. I know most of the 30+ that went into lockdown were alive and well. I do know a few were questionable but so far I've only gotten 5 to full hatch. One died after zipping and the other hatchmates had climbed over it! I hate that! At the moment I only have 5 more that have external pips. Hoping atleast the other 3 I had seen rocking and rolling in the beginning make it too! I found that the temps on the bator read 96 when the digital was reading 99.5 so it seems my sticky chick issues and early hatching was obviously temps. Now I thought I had all that stuff worked out and I'm so afraid this hatch will be a bust too! Already told DH this thing is in the dump cuz this low hatch rate is killing me! It's so disappointing to spend all the time and effort to properly set and care for 42 eggs to end up with only a few in the end!

Ok sorry I'm done ranting!

Good notes..so far I have 3 very lovely BCM, 1 Olive Egger and 1 AM

I just wrote this to a friend in chat and wondered if you all feel this way with your flocks....
"I feel like I have the little aliens from toy story up my butt all the time when I am in the barn. I can go into the barn and not a chicken in sight because they are busy doing whatever then I walk to the toolbox we keep feed in and turn around and they are all right there staring at me. Its unsettling. They are like ninjas"
