INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

She doesn't peck, kinda makes whistle sounds of n on? Does that makes sense? Her legs are under her, she won't attempt to bear weight on her legs at all, her comb seems pink red,

Your answers don't sound like broodiness, but also don't rule out nerve involvement or bone/tendon injury.
If either of those are the culprits, separation from the flock and rest for a few days will tell you more.
Heavy doses of vitamin B have been known to help with regeneration of damaged nerves. Crushed up vitamin B complex in oatmeal for a few days couldn't hurt her.
A few days of isolation, rest, and increased vitamin B might help. If it doesn't, that tells you something too.
As with any illness, hand washing after handling her and prior to handling the unafflicted birds will be important.
I'll be interested to see how she gets along. Sending healthy wishes!

Thanks so much! I'm at a loss to, seems like it could be anything,, I have an appt with the vet Thursday,, but I'm giving her two days to herself to see of she pepps up a bit, there are no vets close that will see her, I have to take her to an exotic vet

No sleep for me tonight. I just went to look at the ducklings and chicks and Skittles, smaller duckling, was laid out in the food dish. I picked her up and she didn't put up a fight at all. She is very weak. I can feel her ribs and spine. She lays around a lot anyway, but tonight was different. I laid her on a cushion and got her some food and water to see if I could get her to eat. She stayed perfectly still the whole time. She wants to close her eyes. I got a little poly vi sol in her, and got her to take a couple of drinks. She didn't want to eat or drink. I don't know what's wrong. I'm new to ducks. I feel so bad. I hope she pulls through. I don't want to leave scrappy alone without another duck. She seemed okay today when I took pics of them.
I'm really sorry about your duckling. You might contact Little Ameraucana Mom. I know she has chickens and geese. She may also have ducks.

Hoping I didn't miss posts, but finally caught up on over 120 of them

If I missed a question or something important please, pm me!
I am really grateful that everyone enjoys our thread as much as I do. We have an awesome group of friends here!
And truly a huge support group too. I am still learning new things every day.
Thanks for the kind thoughts on my goats. Buddy the buckling is doing great, and getting stronger.
Shadow my doe is trying to get back up, so I think trimming her hooves paid off. They are a mess.
Front hooves are nearly cleaned up, taking slow steps with her since she has been thru so much already..
I am still taking Buddy out to see her, but I don't see her nursing this time.
She is finally letting the milk down, but I think its in best interest of both to play it safe.
I am going to just let her dry off and try to get her health in order.
Looking at different options as far as whats best for her to do so, and to keep her comfortable at the same time.
That's good news about your doe. I hope she continues to heal.

Any suggestions to why a 6 month old EE would be acting like she can't walk or stand? I'm freaking out here! No bumblefoott, nothing visually, she is alert and chatting to me,

If you pick her up are her feet curled up and limp or do they have some life in them?

She curls then, but grips my fingers etc...

Are you going to the exotic vet in Indy?
I went there when we had a similar situation, but in the end, made the decision we already knew we would.
Texas A&M offers blood tests for most things...you may find that helpful to know.

Thanks everybody. I called Tsc. They are going to replace her. Its. It's a mystery. Scrappy is sneezing a bit, but skittles never did, so I think it must be a fluke. He really shoves his bill into stuff so he probably gets stuff in there.

That's good news Kab!! I seen lastnight they had a few Ducklings left! I seen them twice, went there for a couple items got home the first time and realized I had forgotten one of the items and had to turn around and go back!! Lol not cool with $3.75 a gallon for gas. Good luck with your new duckling/ducklings?!?!?! Lol

Lol, I do that all the time. When we go into tsc its easy to get distracted. They said all they have right now is pekins and mallards. I'm not wild about Pekins and I don't want Scrappys buddy flying away in the fall, so I will wait until they get khakis in. They said maybe tomorrow. Scrappy is sooooo messy. He is cute as a button, but has the ability to turn a drop of water into a gallon all over the place. The little EE's don't love him when he does that. I just gave him a treat of some romaine lettuce and he had that all over too. LOL Btw thanks for the offer of eggs, I don't think I can handle the stress of incubation right now. I have a million things going on.

I just wrote this to a friend in chat and wondered if you all feel this way with your flocks....
"I feel like I have the little aliens from toy story up my butt all the time when I am in the barn. I can go into the barn and not a chicken in sight because they are busy doing whatever then I walk to the toolbox we keep feed in and turn around and they are all right there staring at me. Its unsettling. They are like ninjas"

LOL! Thatd make a funny cartoon, chicken ninjas surrounding you in the barn! Its just the opposite at my house! Mine can hear me coming and bombard me as soon as I walk in the coop! Plus, my cats seem to think they're chickens, so I get swarmed by them too!
