Well it looks like I need to find a good home for gus. He and Blueberry have started fighting. Since we are going to breed lf cochins I need to keep BB. One year old Silver Laced Wyandotte needs good home that will use him for breeding. He is very sweet with people. He and BB normally get along fine. We took the hose to them and it seems to have helped. But I dont know for how long. I hope someone wants him. He cant go anywhere that would process him sorry.

Here is my 5 minute bantam chick tractor. Just something I put together to let the banties out during the day.

I made 16 chicken aprons today. (The fabric patterns/colors show up better on an enlarged picture.)

Goodb wanted 6 of them so he has first dibs on them. The rest are available to anyone else who is interested. I'm charging $2.50 per apron. I used 2 layers of cotton so they're lightweight for summer. The elastic is only stitched on the ends so you can pull the elastic all the way over to one side to slide a wing in and then all the way over to the other side for the other wing. They stay on really well. Our girls are still wearing theirs from January because we haven't had the time to take them off yet!

Hershey was very jealous that the chickens were on the other side of the fence where the grass was trying to grow.

Whirly -- his head reminds me of a horse!


Carmello -- he has a beautiful fleece coat -- can't wait to have yarn spun out of it!

Im jealous you got a blue!   OK so its bn a few hours...hows the new baby doing?

My baby has recovered enough that it was not in its little tub when I went in to check on it! Such a relief! It has graduated up to the mini brooder with the other day olds.

ummm...they get wet in the rain?!?

Our girls have been running around in them, but usually come in when it's raining. They do dust bathe wearing the aprons. Now that it has warmed up we need to take them off all the girls except the ones still missing back feathers...it's on the to-do list.....

Hi all! It has been busy around here. I can't wait for this wind to go away! It has been blowing 20-30 mph all week with gusts much higher than that! Makes working outside more difficult!

I am going to be re-homing my 4 month old birchen marans cockerel. He is a really nice boy but I don't have a big enough flock to justify the number of roosters and he has just discovered "the ladies". Please let me know if you are interested in him! Edited to add that I would rather he not go into a pot.

That dont sound good! We just re homed our Bloodhound. That was not fun. He got out of his pin and was trying to get to my chickens & goats kids and the only thing that saved the chickens was Cricket keeping my dog occupied with him instead of getting to my layers!! He did not touch cricket so nothing got hurt but we did make the decision to re home Bocephus. He has a nice home out by Huntington now. Thanks to cricket for doing a great roo job and saving his flock! Sorry to hear about gus.

That dont sound good! We just re homed our Bloodhound. That was not fun. He got out of his pin and was trying to get to my chickens & goats kids and the only thing that saved the chickens was Cricket keeping my dog occupied with him instead of getting to my layers!! He did not touch cricket so nothing got hurt but we did make the decision to re home Bocephus. He has a nice home out by Huntington now. Thanks to cricket for doing a great roo job and saving his flock! Sorry to hear about gus.

I'm glad Cricket did his job and everyone is okay. After I posted that and hung out in the barn and pasture with the hose and sprayer for a while, they chilled out. I hope it was just a fluke. I have no intention of getting rig of Gus if I don't have too. If they continue to spar I will have to. Lets just hope it was a bad day and they are over it. They are sleeping cuddled up next to each other on the roost like they usually are, so I know they don't hate each other. I have 2 black LF cochin cockerels that I would like to keep. Thats the one nice thing about cochin boys, they take forever to mature, so I have time to decide what to do. I'm sorry about your dog. I hope your pit doesn't get lonely now. Are your goats okay?
