Eh - a different hatchery really won't make much of a difference, even though *this* outbreak is being traced to Mt. Healthy it's a risk regardless -- as raisinemright said, if people would practice good hygiene (and common sense) this wouldn't but much of an issue.

I'm thinking mt healthy was in the news last year regarding salmonella outbreak.

Received a shipment of chicks from Beggarticks Farm today! I received a dozen blue/gold partridge brahma chicks plus the chicks from other peoples orders. I highly recommend them! Her hatch didn't go as planned and is reshipping the shorted chicks at her expense! I will likely add to the order and offer to split the cost of shipping jus because she has been so helpful through the process. I'll work on pics in the next couple days

That's what the CDC article said also I think. Most Tsc stores get their chicks from there so I understand. That's why I said chick days must have something to do with it. A lot more chicks this time of year.

Hello everyone from Indiana. I live in the Bedford area and I am new to chickens this year. I got my first "12" in March and have added 2 silkies, 6 barred rocks, and 2 guineas. My "12" are leghorns,RIR,EE,Wellsummer,SLW and my baby, Daisy Girl is a ISA BrownThis is Blanche. I think she is a Wellsummer.

. I have to say that I feel totally obsessed with my chickie babies. I read all kinds of books, blogs and I love this website. Just wondering if there are any other chicken lovers in my area. I plan on getting some more this weekend. I love my chickie babies.

Welcome! I have no idea where Bedford is! Blanche is super cute! I hope you find someone in your area on here, but even if you don't I hope you stick around the thread! It is a great group of enablers and a very active thread!

Probably won't b on for a week or so. Had a procedure on my back today, left my legs numb and arms weak. Feel like I've bn run over by a Mack truck...!

Keep me in ur Prayers please, this Sympathetic nerve block wasn't supposed t leave me feeling like this! It was a last resort procedure. Won't do another, hurts horribly!
