INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Just for fun. Probably too girly for our male BYCers, and I'm sure M2H could do a better job with the execution, but here's my idea of an Indiana chicken shirt.

:)

(I'm watermarking it just to keep pirates from doing their own merch with it...learned that the hard way...but if anyone does want to use it for personal use or for the BYC shirt I'd happily remove the watermark.)

the quilt is fitting in the way that the roosters around here start crowing long before I want to get out of bed.

Here is my letter for @ LonelyPageTurne, I also emailed it to your Gmail account. For anyone who wasn't sure what to write, please feel free to pull from this. hoosiercheetah had a great letter post 28853 on page 2886 and ChickCrazed also had a great letter post #28863 on page 2887.

I have been a chicken owner for a few years now and live in the city on a third of an acre lot. I have bantam silkies which are about 1/3 of the size of large fowl chickens. I built my own coop and have a lot of time and money invested in my chicken flock. Not only do I love my chickens, my neighbors love them too. Many neighbors with children love to come over and watch the chickens. They even lend a hand to help fill their feeders and clean the coop. I repay them with fresh eggs. Some of my neighbors have commented they don’t even remember that I have chickens because they are so quiet and not smelly at all. There are many reasons people within city limits should be allowed to keep chickens.

· Chickens are fun, friendly pets with educational value for children about where food like eggs comes from
· They can provide food security for families
· They lay healthier eggs compared to store-bought eggs
· They give gardeners high-quality fertilizer
· They control flies and other pests, not add to them, and dispose of weeds and kitchen scraps that otherwise might end up in the landfill
· Chickens are being used in a variety of therapy techniques, many people who have chickens find them therapeutic

I feel that cities should punish those who create a public nuisance when it comes to keeping any type of animal in town. However, I do not feel that all people should be punished by not being allowed to have their own small flock within city limits. Now that I have had chickens for a few years, if I am not allowed to keep them, I will move somewhere that will allow chickens, and take my tax money and votes with me.

@atrueb00, I think your design is darling. The only idea I have for including it with the shape of the state is to put the state as the background (possibly in bright red), then put your trio on a banner that is curving like a ribbon around the state, from the front.

That takes a lot more photoshop skills than I have, but I think it would be beautiful if you can pull it off.

@hoosiercheetah , I love the chicken with a gun. You should put that on your shirt, with some reference to the Heneteniary. (probably grossly misspelled that)

or the whole picture in the shape of Indiana. This coming from a person who won't even take the time to submit a design. yours is way better than mine just as it is. Although I'm sure more than a few suggestions will be made. Too many cooks and all... Still having it in the shape of Indiana seems cool to me as does having a symmetrical circle top.
I really like this suggestion. I will try to play around with the image to see if I can work the state into the design. Problem with Indiana is it is much longer than it is wide-so I am not sure that I can fit three chickens across the state without having a lot of leftover space vertically. If anyone has suggestions for working the state into the design, please chime in! Also, if you want the original file to play around with I can email you the Adobe Illustrator file.
Here is a picture where the main item, the track is at an angle. Maybe the chickens could do the same? I'm not good with graphic programs but I can sometimes find ideas on google.

Yep. On behalf of all of the men here at BYC Indy, none of whom asked me to speak on their behalf, I offer this suggestion:

You could put like, words and stuff on it.

ETA: Don't be a smart alec, chickcrazed, I have guns. And so do my chickens. ;-)

I just love this! Would love to have a shirt like this, it wouls surely get people talking and get a lot of strange looks. Saved the picture, going to have to share it with some of the men in my life who love chickens and guns.

I think one is blind. Her eyes are still there but her pupils are constantly dilated. And she responds to sounds but not sudden movements. I'm going with blind. She is very small for her age which makes sense as she can't see the food. She now sits on the trough feeder. All of my runts / one eyes are in their own pen with my BLRW rooster. So far everyone is getting along well but I don't want to have a special needs pen during the winter. I want that pen for the BLRW breeding.
