INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Do you have a privacy fence? ;)
Most are all still mixed together. I have 4 pens of silkie/showgirls:
Partidge pen: partridge silkie roo over 3 showgirls and 1 silkie
White pen: 2 white silkie Roos over 5 silkie hens and a white showgirl
Black/Blue pen: black showgirl roo over black showgirl hen, blue showgirl hen, blue silkie, and 2 black silkies
Mixed pen: I have a blue, silver partridge (with gold leakage), and splash Roos over several partridge/blue partridge hens, buff hen, silver partridge hen, blue with silver leakage hen, and I'm sure I'm forgetting others. Eventually they will be split up and I will be culling through the flock selling ones I don't need for breeding.

So I typically hatch several colors of partridge, blue, splash, white, and occassionally buff out of mixed flock. I guess I have 5 flocks now, but it is very cockerel heavy lol.

This may be a silly question, but what is a showgirl?

Came back from camping way early because of the storms. I come back to the incubator at 110 degrees. The person watching tuned it up slightly, I explained multiple times how touchy the dial is. This is the second or third day. I am hoping my eggs aren't all screwed up now

Hi everyone. I have a RIR roo, 18 weeks old who needs re-homed. I put a post in the buy/sell forum but wanted to offer him here, for free. If you're not interested in adding him to your flock but would like as a meat bird, I'm ok with that. I wish I could keep him but my husband is adamant he's got to go. I can deliver him within a reasonable distance from the Indy area too.
I usually take in roosters but am pretty full right now. If no one takes him I can make room, but may be hard for me to travel. Am located SE of pendleton.

and we will be having our chickenfest as planned! we are getting a lot of messages now.
Quote: Yep am trying to, so much going on! Lot of driving with moms dialysis also. Really looking forward to our get together and meeting up with everyone! Ready for a day away.

Greeting Hoosiers! Our Blue Australorp was taken by a raccoon last month up at our farm in Eaton, who broke in through the siding. I was looking to find another Blue Australorp, since it was the favorite, and named "Eggy," by my 8 year old middle son, who is currently undergoing a bone marrow transplant at Riley to battle his Leukemia. He and I would video chat in the morning to let the chickens out and look for eggs. It helps him stay connected to home while in the hospital for 7 weeks. He always wanted to know how Eggy was doing! I still haven't broke the news to him! And, am hoping to find another Blue Australorp, "Eggy II," to add to the flock. I'm hoping my fellow Hoosiers might have suggestions?

I hope someone can help find a blue, check out the buy, sell & trade thread. Prayers for your son. He is going thru a difficult procedure for sure.

Quote: We are going to try to make it. BUT I can't rsvp as things come up so often with the children it is hard to promise to be anywhere. Everything depends on both weather and children over here.

I do plan on getting a few group shirts though. If children sizes are offered and the design is toddler friendly I'll get a few of those too. I think a couple of the designs had comical chickens in them.
I certainly understand, and hope you can make it. I loved the Nene look alike too!

I am so frustrated!...I live in Granger, Indiana and I guess I am not able to have chickens even though I live in the county...I am required to have 5 acres and be zoned agricultural...What I find amusing is that South Bend which is in the same county can have hens in the city!

I was really hoping a few hens would be ok :(
Fight it!!!! Thats just crazy! Indianapolis even allows chickens!

Quote: LOL its just ridiculous what a few miles will change.
