INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

nite guys! off to bed finally

I would take him as a meat bird but I'm really really giving some hard thought to having a closed flock.  I know we will be processing at least 2 more times before Winter sets in real good.  I need to get with Racin.. to find out when he plans to do his fall processing to set up a date.  He has a wonderful plucker.  I'm thinking it would be worth a small fee to be able to rent his plucker or even process at his house.

I usually take in roosters but am pretty full right now. If no one takes him I can make room, but may be hard for me to travel. Am located SE of pendleton.

Thanks so much to both of you!! As it turns out, he got a new home late yesterday. I got a call from my Mom asking if I still had him, she knew a farmer who wanted him. The farmer sells produce all summer long so we'll get to see him when we stop to buy some. I really appreciate your offers to help out though.

SallyinIndiana, I'll be watching for a date for the processing event with Racin. I saw where he did that not too long ago. I'm really curious about how that's done and might attend. That's a big maybe though, I'm just not sure if I can handle the killing (is that the proper, chicken-friendly term??) part of the process. I know it sounds silly, but I think that part would really upset me emotionally. Oh well, maybe I'll change my user name to NinnyInIndy, lol.

I am so frustrated!...I live in Granger, Indiana and I guess I am not able to have chickens even though I live in the county...I am required to have 5 acres and be zoned agricultural...What I find amusing is that South Bend which is in the same county can have hens in the city!

I was really hoping a few hens would be ok :(
of course everyone knows that a couple of chickens need 5 acres to graze in so they don't keep bumping into each other

I just found this thread. I have 4 golden comets, 5 barred rocks, and 1 jersey giant. All hens. I am in Mooresville. I am interested in finding a silkie or two to add to the flock. I don't suppose there is anyone close that has one for sale??

Welcome! I live just outside Mooresville, so we must be close. There are a few others that live near also.

Although I have a lot (true number unknown) of chickens, I have no silkies. But there are some major Silkie fans on this thread.

Is there a website that has more info about the campgrounds. maybe a map of the campgrounds or even a touristy map of the local liberty area.
We spent some time at a campgrounds near Holiday world. It turned out there that lots of other non holiday world tourist stuff was very close by. It would be great to make a day out of getting there and coming home.

If anyone is interested in this guy, send me a message or comment. I need to rehome him, he is a 1 year and 3 months old. I have to many roosters and not enough hens for him. He doesn't have his spurs but he knows how to get the job done. I have 4 or 5 of his chicks growing out now. Hoping to have a few showgirl hens to add to my smal flock.
