I just love these little ones! So glad I decided to add another bantam breed (D'uccles).

Beautiful Blue Copper Marans I hatched back last fall. The pullet has yet to lay... my Marans take forever to start laying!

Oh..can't forget Mr P just livin it up in the sunshine! Lol
He is really doing great! He comes when I call him and never goes anywhere! I thought he'd wander a bit here and there but he stays put. He follows me to the garden now but that's as far as he'll go. Mrs P I don't think twice about. She is much more tame.
I look forward to adding a few more this fall with a breeder I've ordered with. Expecting Pied and white!

I need help. I live in Spiceland Indiana, a town of about 800 people. For 2 years my family and I have raised and cared for our backyard chickens. We'll, after 2 years...the town council is now demanding I remove the chickens (ordinance issue) ....we have never had any problems with our girls. We have got every signature from every neighbor within 2 blocks and they are ok with us having chickens. Most of out neighbors said they never knew. Long story short...we have been denied an exemption....and we have been told that the ordnance will never be changed....yet 1 block from my house our ducks and chickens...1 mile from my home is a 16000 head hog operation. And 50 feet outside my town limits is another backyard chicken owner. I am asking for your help...I have already been getting signatures from the people of our town...and on Aug. 5th during the next town council mtg I plan to ask for the ordinance to be changed...and I have also arranged for a protest to take place. I have cleared everything with local law enforcement and I am contacting media as we'll. we have already had a story ran in the local papers....but now is the showdown. Please, if you live close to us.,. Can you join us in a peaceful protest? It is Aug 5th at 6pm in the town of Spiceland. Please spread the word....we don't want to get rid of our girls that we have cared for the last 2 years....and this small town Government needs to be shown how democracy works. Any questions please ask. Thank you

They are really ugly. I can take them and try to do something with them.

LOL they are actually very nice girls. I will still take them though. M2H you have 2 very pretty pullets. Mine don't turn out that nice.

Eat over your plate, not over your chickens.
hoosierchickens~ haha I do prefer live chickens on my dinner table.
In reference to your "dare" ~ You've said that you're a car mechanic, airplane mechanic, and a teacher. What ages and subjects do you teach?

@ChickCrazed and @racinchickins This Sweetgrass Tom Turkey has absolutely stunning feathers, but I'm not sure about its face (superficial of me, I know). However, I used to think that Silkies were really weird. Funny how breeds just grow on you!

@ellymayRans ~ I have an 8 week old d'Uccle . . . roo. I'm hoping he'll be quiet and sweet because he's so cute. Love seeing your photos, and that's cool that your peafowl are so friendly.

On the "clear" ones, if you tip them, can you see it sloshing in the shell? That is when I feel comfortable removing them. If I don't see sloshing I still give them the chance just in case I didn't see correctly. (And I actually looked at them after some of the others had hatched first.)

I am on day 4 of trying to break the very determined broody. Last night (day 3) she was back on her nest so back to the klink she went. I have her in a metal cage on a stand for air flow. If she hasn't broken by tonight what are my options? Do some just not break? I guess I could give her a few eggs, as much as I really don't want to deal with any more chicks this year. Why couldn't she have gone broody this Spring?!?!?!
