Are they the same age? I'd say that first pic is a too. It looks like the tail feathers are starting to get dark too. Check the insides of "its" legs t see if thete are spur nodules. Bottom pic possibly a pullet.

Again I stand corrected about the spurs but that tail looks like its getting dark green feathers in it. That's what I'm running this guess off of. Can you let me know what it turns out to be? Please.

OK so my opinion may not be correct but the tail on the bottom picture looks like the bigining of rooster tail feathers to me. I have a golden comet (red sexlink) that looks like that one but is older and HE is crowing. I hope it reveals its true self soon. Let me know what it turns out t be, will you, please.

Second generation sexlink crosses can have that female appearance, but be male. You cannot cross sexlinks and make sexlinks, and that is a common mistake made by backyard breeders. Hatcheries, however, know better, and I believe flyladyrocks said her birds were from Meyer's.

The more developed pullet has pointed tail feathers, but that is not necessarily a masculine trait. Here is a rooster at 11 weeks old. Notice how he has pretty obvious saddle feathers already, as well as nice, curved sickle tail feathers--sickle feathers that are not particularly pointed at the end. The pointed feathers are the saddle feathers and the hackle feathers on roosters. Even my 9 year old rooster has rounded tips on his long, curved sickle feathers. Anyway, the 11 week old rooster. He's an Easter-egger, but the feathers are the same on pretty much any breed, henny feathered breeds excluded, of course.

No worries. It took me a loooot of studying and raising birds before I was able to spot the defining masculine and feminine traits on these birds. I still get what I call 'rooster paranoia' with every batch of chicks I get. This year, I was absolutely sure Georgie was a boy and worried that Mabel was as well, but now they're 8 weeks old with no real masculine traits and are looking quite feminine after all. (Georgie is a black copper Marans and Mabey is a Welsummer, M2H. )

If I can get pics I'm going t post some of my wellies. I think one is a Roo! Pointy neck feathers, very long legged stance, spur nubs. One has a large red comb and wattles compared t the others pink barely there comb and wattles. Also have a pair of BCM's I hatched from eggs (from Ellymayrans) that I think are a true "pair". I'll get pics asap.

Can you tell me what these stand for - sometimes I can figure it out but this is not one of those days!! We have a snuggy wuggy girl too, the lighter of the sexlinks. Ironically she likes my daughter to hold her on her back on my dd's shoulder. I think she's like a dog, and has figured out it is easier to rub her breast when she is that way and she really likes that!

Oh, sorry, I shortened them because they were mentioned earlier in the post as well. BCM is Black Copper Marans, SGD is Silver Gray Dorking.

Elda's always been a cuddler. Kit-kit, the other Dorking, started out like her, but has kind of cooled off on it. But Violet, the 'oopsie' Bielefelder from Brad, has taken over her place. Such a love bug! Elda likes to cuddle, but Vi likes to hop up and bury her face under my arm.

They all end up in my lap at one point or another when I'm sitting with them, though. This has been the friendliest set of birds I've ever gotten!

Well my kids got stomped in there goat show today!! We kinda knew it would be like that this year being first timers. They have learned a ton and have truly enjoyed it. They both want to stick with poultry and my son is talking about breeding his own show birds. My wife and I are doing our community work by staying in the goat barn on night watch!!! There is about 250/300 head of different breeds in here with us. I will just say " if you can only imagine" what we have in store for us tonight. Lol it should be fun!

I have broad breasted turkeys jchny2000 and I believe a hen could get pretty nasty. We have a tom and a hen. The are way over slaughter age (a year and a half old)'and pets at this point. Bob is limping around and she is pretty big as well. I wish they were heritage it will b hard on our family when they pass. While I enjoy my chickens, I feel the turkeys are more personable. My hen loves being petted and they respond when you call them by name. Darn birds have me wrapped! I have been researching geese, you raise them right? Are they pretty personable? And are they mean? My aunt had some and all I remember is being chased by them.
