I've got a few different pullets starting to lay in the last week! And surprise one of my EE pullets layed an awesome light blue egg (in the box) today! Have no clue of witch one it was but none the less a BLUE egg!!!!

The left green one is from a EE cross bantam, the white one is a leghorn pullet!!

They are terrible! I hate the things! I didn't go in for swelling, even though I do swell bad. I was ski for 3 months because of those things.
The school finally let me just go half days. They are terrible pests
I eill have I look up pics of them! I have never seen them before

pretty much like which specks. Gotra watch them for movement. I noticed them because there was a huge infestation. They pile up in large amounts.

You "guys" are more brave than I am going to the swap meets!  (Not real excited about the possibility of bringing home diseases...)

My dad's doctor was talking to me this week about the meet.  Told me he got some there but he was never going to do it again. 

It can be risky, but thy is why you learn what to look for an quarantine. I know I will likely never have a closed flock. To have good birds I need to continue to look for good birds to add the my lines. I haven't had an illness in my flock yet, knock ok wood, but I have had one in quarantine. Kind if like not wanting to catch the flu when in public. Just play it smart. It don't go shake hands with the person coughing.
I have never been to a swap but like buying at shows

Ok, I'm asking. What is a bookshelf door? My DH and I are avid readers and keep running out of bookshelf space.

I always am attacked by misquitos. I go outside fr a night and I am lucky to have less than around 10 bites. I actually have some right now. One weekend I went. Camping and I came home with nearly 30 mosquito bites and ended up getting sick. I ended up going to te emergent room for 7 and a half hours and finally found out what it was

Mosquitos are a nightmare for me too. They LOVE me, and I get huge, swollen welts that itch for weeks. Drives me nuts. Worse, they don't bother my DH at all, which is really annoying.

Just an FYI, went to get chick feed from TSC and pulled out a bag of Dumor Starter/Grower and the outside was covered in grain mites! Not sure if its isolates to the Marion, IN store or through out their distribution but I highly recommend staying away from them as they can be veey difficult to get rid of. I know by experience! Lol

I still have not found the ivy plants on our property but my youngest seems to have gotten it again. Of course all of my children were rolling around in the dirt and weeds last weekend. And my youngest found our neighbors weed covered dirt mound made from 3 dumpster truck loads of dirt. It is a wonder he is not covered head to toe. Still he has so much fun playing, he could care less.

I know what you mean. My family always brags about how the misquitos don't bother them. Must be nice lol!

Spelling of vanilla sometimes helps but every inch of exposed skin needs to smell of vanilla. When I take the time to coat myself and the children in vanilla water, we can be smelled for miles Comparable to a teenager using cologne and reapplying every 2 hours.



We now have 2 goats. The best of the kids were sold. The black spotted kid was really really adorable.
Our goats are currently named Noni and Eve. Noni is black with white ears. Eve is brown with a bit of white on her nose.
