INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

There is a chance that you might be able to go through this program. there is a phone number to call and ask if you are 18 or older.
This is what it says for people over 18

How do I enroll myself if I am 18 years old, or older, or am an emancipated minor?
Students who are 18 or over must meet age eligibility requirements in their state. Students must also submit academic documentation of all courses attempted since entering the 9th grade. Academic documentation will be reviewed by a school counselor to determine the student's eligibility to complete the program requirements before meeting the age cap for enrollment. Students who cannot complete the program requirements before meeting the age cap for enrollment are not eligible to enroll.
Both emancipated minors and students 18 years and older are required to complete the Parent/Legal Guardian (Caretaker) Acknowledgement (PLCA) form and to provide all required enrollment documentation before the student can enroll. Emancipated minors must also submit court documentation for their emancipation. Please contact the Enrollment Team at 1-800-382-6010 for more information.

I never made it to 9th grade and have no clue what the age cap is. I will have to call them and find out what the age cap is.

I agree. Education is important. You can't get a job without that piece of :rant paper that said you went to high school. Believe me, I know. I didn't finish middle school and didn't get to go to high school. Am trying to get my G.E.D. but kinda hard without the money to get a tutor.

My DH also didn't finish high school, and it took him years to get his g.e.d. Unfortunately, he's found that it is tough to find a job without a college or tech degree, so he is thinking of going back to school.

Has he considered aviation? Cause I can recommend a school. ;-)

My main concern with home schooling is the socializing aspect of school that gets missed - learning to interact with other children and adults, share, collaborate, etc. But I know some home-schoolers participate in school sports or 4H or boy scouts/girl scouts, etc, which can help. And my other concern is that although most of us can help with k-5 level work, once you get into specialized topics I worry that we get the blind teaching the blind (in other words, no parent can be an expert in all subjects, so if their child is struggling it can be tough to help). I mean, when I was in high school I took calculus and chemistry and physics and biology and creative writing and theatre arts and Spanish and Latin and Japanese and Shakespeare and science fiction and Latin American History and creative writing and illustration, etc., and I got so much more out of those courses (most of them, at least) because the teachers were experts in the subjects and were available to provide in depth answers to my questions and so on. Admittedly, I went to a great high school. All this said, I would consider home-schooling my kids, at least for the early years.

I honestly could have done without some of the socialization aspects of public school! But I also went to a HUGE school so it was easy to get lost in the crowd.

We had neighbors growing up that homeschooled until they got to high school and then they went to the public school. As far as I know all 5 kids transitioned pretty smoothly. They were also heavily involved in swim teams though so the kids did know some people going into the public system.

Our school system here in WV already have a peek program that children are required to b enrolled in prior to Kindergarten. They test 3yr olds and if they pass the testing they start at three if they don't pass at three they are retested at 4yrs if they don't pass at 4,some of the parents are required to take a parenting class and take a test to see if the parents are "at fault" for the inability of the child t pass this "basic" test. I'm not sure what happens if it is the parents intellect that has stimied the child, I don't think they can legally do anything about it. I'm telling you there are a LOT of inbred idiots in this state popping out kids like puppies!!!

Oh my, I can't imagine being required to send my 3 year old to school! I wonder if their program is working?
