Thanks for the ideas! I actually had some of plastic chicken wire fence on hand so I put that over the box and made hooks out of some nails. I put it up this morning and it seems to be working so far. I'll let you all know how it goes. By the time I went out this morning there was an extra egg in her box, she was sitting in a different box, and there was another hen in her box so I think she's playing musical nests because the other hens are kicking her out. I'll have to go look at the shade cloth stuff. I defiantly need more shade in their run!Bonbon (my avatar) started out being broody in a nesting box and things were fine for a week. Then my BR decided she wanted to use the box Bonbon was in, and the scuffle resulted in a broken hatching egg. I put Bonbon in a small converted rabbit hutch coop, but if your broody doesn't want to move-- you and CCCHICKENS have good ideas to make a chicken wire or screen cover. I tried to think of ideas using something you may have or using inexpensive solutions and then I decided to show photos. That's one reason I am behind on the thread . . . something will interest me and I decide to brainstorm and research for fun, and the next thing I know, it's late. ![]()
