O WOW I just looked in on honey and she is EATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND SHE CAN HOLD HER NECK STRAIGHT NOW... but still has little balance and is walking on her hocks??? but she is eating...
I'm glad you caught the poop blocking her vent in time, but about your hand... . Hmm... strange she didn't take right to the water. I wonder if it's because she just a few days old is the reason why she isn't too interested in it. Anyways, I wish you good luck with your little duckling
She took right to it today! I think she may not have yesterday because the dish I'm using is hard to see water in. Today, I left just a few marbles in the bottom and she went right at it! It was cute watching her dunk her beak in and blow bubbles--right up until she shook her head and spread water everywhere! Then, she wobbled right through the dish and kicked water everywhere! Fortunately it occurred to me to do this out of the brooder and on some paper towels, so I didn't have too much of a mess to clean up.

You see, the left portion of my brain is missing, so I have difficulty processing (and I don't mean chickens). Luckily, pipd posted a compelling photo of her ducky, Wibbles, which was fortunately reposted intermittently to keep me going until the conclusion. Peek-a-boo is more my speed! Yeah, I do run on sometimes. Just skip my posts if they look too much like a lecture or textbook! And I'd love to see even more pics of chicks and ducks and other adorable creatures!
Anyone else having ridiculous hawk visitations? Pretty soon I'm going to know the neighborhood hawks so well that they'll be coming up to eat out of my hand. At least one is already not afraid of my presence at all.
Thought I would share the chicks hatched via broody, eggs were from @bradselig they are adorable. Can't hold them or catch them. But from a distance they are too cute. Lol.
Actually I think they all came to my house. Thank goodness for my dog who chases even the tiny birds off our property. My dog is my free range bio-security defense system...haha. She probably keeps the hawks at bay too because in two years we have never lost a bird to any predators. The ducks are are actually good alarms too. They run quacking and flapping for tree cover when they hear the sqwaks which scares the chickens who run for cover as well...even though I don't think they always know why.
