The fear is that the chickens will fall inside and drown.  No matter how high the water level, this is a possibility.

This is true and the lower the water the further they lean down. I also don't completely control the water level because the barn gutter fills the trough. With all the rain this year it has stayed pretty full.

I am not saying it can't happen but chances are slim.

Yes the turkey is a blue palm. Pictures will be a bit as I can't seem to locate my camera.
