INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I will have black coppers this year.

Woo-hoo!! I'd love to see some pics!! Noone posts enough pics! I don't have anyone's birds here but a few of lizs and peas from pbird now but we need to do a little "Down memory lane" photo shoot/post of acquired birds from our IN family!!

The people I got the Peahen from this past week I told them I would happily keep in touch to send pics and updates on her. They raised her from a chick and I enjoy seeing "my grandbabies" or babes.. maybe it's just me!! Lol!

I will say green since I don't have a green one. Oldest DD says she votes hoodie and her fav color is green.

Updating our member list tonight. I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to @pbirdhaven for offering to assist with the member list

Would you like to be added to our member list? Its informal, you can share as little info or as much as you chose. We keep this list so others can look to see who may have a breed they or you want. Breeders are highlighted in a lighter blue, and have a Y in the breeder column. If you don't breed, it is fun to see what other members keep. Also gives a chance to ask "where did you find that breed?" you can sort by breed, species, county or any other item, PM one of us if you need help or have questions.
If you are already on our member list, check out your info so if needed we can correct or update it. see our member list here:

to be added or corrections on our list contact @pbirdhaven @bradselig or myself @jchny2000

This little guy has to be one of my favorite bantam cochins. His name is Thor, he also has a twin named Loke. I just love his bubbled butt. For any of you cochin peolpe out there how does he look? I was thinkng of letting my daughter show him in 4-h this summer. We are very new to this and don't know exactlly what to look for.

And these guys are the newest members of Chick Commander Farm. They are just gourgous. I especially like the darker girl for her coloring and lacing. Their names ar Mufasa (roo), Sarabie, and Nala. What do you guys think about them?

What color would these guys be considered?
chickiebaby ~ They are all so pretty!
morning everyone...brrr minus 12 here

birdman ~ I just noticed that you're another Michigan member! I've been "on leave" haha -- so here's a belated "Welcome!"
I'm in Zionsville and have Jubilee Orpington eggs as well as a 50/50 blend of Black/Lav split and Lavender Orpington eggs. Also will have some chicks in the next few days!
@kittydoc I can't wait to see photos!

How can we resist picking up our "Cuddles" when she looks at us like this?

@Faraday40 Cuddles is a great name! I agree-- I love the elegant lavender color as well as blue and black. I've always preferred darker colors for all of my animals.

@jchny2000 Once the mallard ducks I got from Racin... start laying, I'm sure I'll have duck eggs available of course ducklings would be about a month later. Maybe we could work out a trade of some kind. I'm thinking come April I'd like to have a person to call about goat kidding if something goes wrong.

I'm pretty sire Black Copper Marans are my kryptonite... if I found some for sale around here, I'd buy them even in the face of divorce from Husband! Lawrence County doesn't seem to have an abundance of BCM's though :-\
Husband and I have been talking about getting some Ameraucana from a breeder if I decided to get more chickens...and I think I will get more...because I want to play around with egg color.

I will definitely be at next years Chicken Fest!

LOL I steer far away from the bins! I still want a few mallard ducks, but aside from that its just meat birds this year for us.

I don't use light either. December was really slow, mid January it started kicking in. Most of my summer chicks started up with pullet eggs, so yep we had them coming regular after that. Now, we are getting a good number of eggs daily.

Is that a coronation sussex in your avatar? Looks like a gorgeous fella!

Yes, he's a Coro. I had some a couple years ago and lost the hens to predators. I sold the roo to someone in IL. I wish I had them back. If I can find some Coro or lights this year I would get more.
