All this talk of Polish chickens reminds me of our little 80s hair band:




They were part of my daughter's 4H project involving hatching shipped eggs. Someone wanted SQ Silver Laced Polish, & DD wanted as much data as possible. He paid for the eggs. DD hatched them & raised the chicks for about 4 weeks. Poor hatch rate on the shipped eggs (only 3 chicks out of 8 eggs), but no chicks died. Thankfully, they were never really ours, so giving them up was not very difficult. Sure were cute, though!

I need hatching eggs. Where is the best place to get some. I really want some Salmon Faverolles and some more silkies to add to my trio. Does anyone have an opinion of  where to find eggs?

I am just now starting to get eggs from my birds. Silkies still haven't started laying yet. Hopefully within a month they are all back to laying. That being said I heard in radio today they are calling for 1-3" of snow Saturday, 3-5 Sunday, and an additional 1" overnight Sunday to Monday! I'm ready for spring!

My First MG bantam chick has hatched!!!!!!!

Sooooo tiny, and can't wait to get it out of the incubator! Hoping the 2nd egg hatches. Have 5 LO out so far too, and 1 EE.Will be pulling chicks later once I see they are dry, and rewetting the sponges. Frankie took a week off, actually almost 2! So am anxiously waiting her next eggs. I think its a deep blue chick too, too wet to tell yet.
Super excited to see the hatch rate is going so well even with the temps here. If the eggs aren't split from freezing, they are hatching!

Man I forgot how quite they grow out of the fuzzy chick stage! I got more cockerels than I would have preferred but then again, not very often do you wish for roosters lol. I did get a frizzled roo, so I'm happy about that. One chick almost looks more like a calico!

OMG these are the most adorable chicks ever. I wouldn't have been able to part with them. That must have been really difficult.
