INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

I'm totally crushed, y'all... I lost my fabulous little Vespa today. Looks like my first loss to a hawk, so I guess I spoke too soon a few pages back. Oh, I'm hurting over losing this little lady... I wish I had checked on the girls outside more often today. :( My precious Vespa...

pipdzipdnreadytogo I'm so sorry. I've been so busy myself and need to make it a point to do a once over the flock outside. I always count out a few of my breeds that are more "important" but hate losing any of them. I seemed to think my large RIR Roo was not around yesterday but heard a crow from the front yard..thinking maybe that was him. I have to spend time tomorrow doing that.

Big hugs to you!

So our day started out the door at 730am with a basketball tournament and wrestling tournament! Running like crazy back and forth between Martinsville and Center Grove! Finally got home around 530ish. I did swing by the TSC in Greenwood and they had about 4 bins .. 1 of ducks (so cute) I have to tell myself Nope every stinking time I see them. ..1 with white Cornish Rock crosses. First time I've ever seen them and peaked my interest for a meat bird. The last bins were RIR and sex link. I did find a winner there though! Clearance $19.99 Greenhouse! So excited because I decided to do my own starts this year and was going to build one but hey I can stomach $20 bucks!! Such a great find..well at least I think so! Haha!

Then made my way to my local RK and they had a new bin of Hatchery choice layer bins. One of the bins appeared to be all EEs and with my hatch only producing 2 chicks I went ahead and picked out 8 of them. I have a hatchery EE who is 5 this spring and she's still one of my most reliable layers and during the laying season she'll give me just about an egg a day.

Was that the lase greenhouse on clearance?

And I saw those EE at RK. It was great that they were only 1.39. They might even be free after rebate, The sales guy was not sure if they were straight run or pullets.

What a beauty! :drool :love
:love What color is she? Beautiful!
Love those Cochins. :love She looks like such a sweetie, too!

I must have missed the actual post somehow, but I saw atrub00's pictures quoted a few times--just wanted to say your Silkie boy is so handsome! I love his colors!!
Yes, a lot of people associate leg and walking problems with Marek's, but there are actually quite a few things that can explain it. The leg problems associated with Marek's are pretty distinct. I've come across a few videos of Marek's sufferers and, well, you'd know it if you saw it. :/ I can try to look up those videos if anyone is interested in seeing them.

I hear a lot of people are breeding for birds that don't show symptoms, as a way of killing out the effects of the disease. More power to them!

Hm, looks like this entire post was, "Oooh, pretty birds!" until that last bit... Bit of an interesting selection of topics.

Thanks, she is a BS (Black Shoulder).

Thanks so much everyone for your help. I know I don't comment much or get involved in conversation, but you all are really great. I've been fortunate enough to be a part of this thread for going on a couple of years. I can honestly say that there isn't a group of people who are more wonderful when it comes to helping people out.
