INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Life events..... I am drastically downsizing, actually selling out for a while on our livestock, waterfowl and poultry.
Not my choice and I am sick over it to post this, still struggling with it but realize its the best for my birds, and livestock.
Family health situation and its just not workable again another year, I want to be sure what I have is going to have proper care.
Guys I am just overwhelmed and I am worried I can't care for my critters properly. Just heart broken to make this choice ...Life events have given me no option.

Oberhasli goats.. 2 bred does, 1 buck. Does are 2nd year freshened and will likely produce 2 kids each.
Have a lil pigmy gelded fella Buddy, too sweet and just a pet. Not papered no pedigrees on my goats, I don't show.
2 hogs, 1 black boar, 1 feeder york.A potbelly sow that's a doll. My black boar will make a very sweet group of piglets, he is just loveable and friendly..
Chinese and embden geese, Chinese are true pets, this is the hardest for me to let go and just tears my heart out.
Muscovy ducks, lavender, chocolate and black, several pied and barred.
Pekin ducks and drakes, one cayuga hen
Blue swedish ducks & drake trio.
Several chicken breeds, EE, SLW, BR, RIR, WL NJ, OEGB, MGB lots more
Midget white and bourbon red turkey breeding trios.
Guinea, pearl, lavender and some oddball white that were abandoned here.
PM if interested, I am rehoming everything I have, and they will need to go pretty fast.
I am sick over it but I want my babies to go to caring and loving homes. Craigslist is by far my last choice to find homes for my birds and livestock.
I am so sorry to hear this. Sending prayers and hugs your way.

Was that the lase greenhouse on clearance?

And I saw those EE at RK.  It was great that they were only 1.39.  They might even be free after rebate, The sales guy was not sure if they were straight run or pullets.

No there were about 5 greenhouses left in a bin near the checkout. The EEs were Marked Hatchery choice Layers. So I would hope pullets. I asked the lady working and she confirmed because they still had the old hatchery choice straight run sign on the bin from last weeks chicks. None of those were EEs in that bin.

I have 4 silver laced wyandotte pullets (sexed by hatchery) available. They are around 2-3 weeks old. I really would like them gone quick. I have no interest in variety but had to get them to hit rural kings minimum. If I can get them gone by the end of the week, they are FREE! Please come get them! I've had them for a week and they seem to be healthy. Located near Warren, IN.

I am so sad for you I just can't stand it!

So whatever took Vespa yesterday was back early this morning, I would estimate right before sunrise. It left prints around the corner of the coop near the pop door, like it was trying to find its way in. There are also slash marks in the snow from wings flapping. It's definitely a bird, but I'm wondering now with the time of day that it's coming if it could be the great horned owl I saw a week or two ago in the woods. :/ I can't tell for sure from the prints as it had snowed over them a bit by the time I got out there. Here are some pictures. I tried to outline the shape of the print in the last one, but I'm not sure how accurate that is or which direction the bird was facing when it made that print...

EDIT: When I went out to check on the girls at around 2 pm, I believe I witnessed the culprit flying away. It was either a Cooper's or a Sharp-shinned hawk. I didn't see enough to ID it beyond that, just saw the profile in flight and knew it was one or the other. :/ The girls knew to stay in the coop (they even were huddled as far away from the windows as possible!) so the hawk went hungry today.

I'm also wondering if the same bird may have caused the wound on my Frou-Frou's neck. It did remove Vespa's head... :/ Not sure what to think on that.

The girls are in the mini-yard I fenced in for introducing new birds, which has many more vines and branches over it to hopefully protect them from aerial strike today. Most of them are not coming out of the coop, I think because they aren't used to going out that door, though I suppose they could be traumatized as well. They were starting up a dust bath in the addition as I was finishing up with them.

I also apparently was not paying attention last night and locked one of the Guinea boys outside overnight. :th Fortunately, they have a completely enclosed aviary. He was fine this morning, just very, very upset that he couldn't find his flock.

And Frou-frou is doing her best to cheer me up in her own way. Or maybe she's just being a chicken. I just went up to check in on her and the other two refugees, and this is what I found:

"I missed you!" Yes, that's my bed. :barnie

Thanks, she is a BS (Black Shoulder).

Oh, black shoulders are so gorgeous, too! Good luck naming her!

:hugs

This is why I'm contemplating those geese.  It would be great if they could protect from hawks and fit in with the flock.

I had a really bad run a few weeks ago, Confined bantam breeds. Sharp shinned hawk pair actually entered an open shed, and squeezed into large wire dog crates, killed my frizzle silkie roo, NN hen, Buff polish roo and kept coming back with no fear! My guinea finally killed them, but had a lot of loss.
It really tore me up,. Lila my NN was an adorable sweet hen, Penelope my BP rooster was a sit in your lap fella. The small hawks are very aggressive, My geese don't travel to that end of our property. My guinea killed the hawks but not before they took a lot of beloved birds. Guess I need more Guinea.

I'm really surprised a Guinea did this! Mine seem more inclined to stand around and scream at anything attacking. :/ They aren't the brightest bulbs...

:hugs I am just so heartbroken for you! I wish I could help in some way, but I don't have enough space or pens to house new birds right now... :( I hope they all find good homes. :hugs

Janet has asked that we keep Chickenfest going this year. So I am going to post this here. I already posted in the Chickenfest thread.

The date for Chickenfest has been set. It will be Saturday, June 28th, 2015. More info will follow in the next several weeks. We hope to have several fun and informative demos/presentations, activities for the kids, door prizes, and there will some great food.

There is no major hurry for this at the present time, but please send me your rsvp's with the number of people who will be attending, the number of children including age and gender. We need this information so that we can plan the meal, activities and prizes.

Also, this reminder. The deadline for ordering t-shirts is next Saturday, March 7th. So please get your orders in today.

Wanted to post quickly a very big

and thanks to so many of you that's sent well wishes/pm's. My Moms health is taking a sharp downturn. Honestly, I just can't see going through another summer worrying every day if my flocks and livestock are getting proper care. After Dads surgery last year and months at the hospital and nursing home, I have to prioritize, the animals deserve good care and attention. I can't just leave them all locked up days on end, none of them have been raised that way. There were days I was not getting home until dark, its just not comfortable for them and doesn't feel right to me.
Its not what I want, but is the best choice for the critters. You guys are wonderful, thanks for caring.

This is so heartbreaking--you have worked so hard to build up your stock while taking care of your parents and nurturing all of us. I pray that life brings more peace to you soon.
