INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Baskets-o-roosters anyone?!? These cuties are from @ellymayRans

And I think I managed to get 4 roosters  when I told my husband today that I was pretty sure we had 4 boys, he reminded me that I said that wasn't possible... Guess I ginxed myself?!?

I'm going to wait a few more weeks to know for sure but then all boys will need to find a new home. 2 frizzle, 2 smooth.
For now they are pretty cute too play with:)

Ditto @kabhyper1 plzzz come back for good - we love you! Got excited when you posted & thought you were back.

Well I have to admit I obviously missed something! It couldn't have been that bad to leave your entire IN BYC family?!? And I not catch it thinking OH Snap!

I'm sorry you feel the way you do @kabhyper1 but I know many of us enjoyed your company and sharing your stories and joys of your beautiful flock.

Everyone has their breaking point I guess.

Thanks you guys are sweet. I just don't want to say anything that some may deem pushy. So I intended to take a step back. However you guys are difficult to stay away from lol. On a lighter note. we have new babies! I have 2 splash that are about 2 months old out in the coop now with the silkie girls. I have 5 moms and babies in the house right now, two of which hatched their chicks last night. AHHH, I cant wait for this flu stuff to burn out. They need outside time. My littles with their mamas.... silver parti's, blues, blacks, splash... The new babies are mostly splash and 1 blue and 1 BC. And the new babies from last night. They are stupid cute. I have babies out the ears!!!! Anyway, I don't know how active I will be, but I will read and pipe in for help if anyone needs it. Thanks again for being so nice. :)
OMG they are so stinking cute! Thank you for sharing! @mother2hens threatened to steal my broodys little blue silkies yesterday when she brought some back she'd let her broody hatch last year. First time letting a broody raise a clutch and I truly love it!!

Awe! I may have jinxed you too!! Lol!! I have been whining a lot lately about how many folks have hatched or gotten the girls and I always end up with so many Roos!

I love the frizzled and so sorry they're all boys!

I'll add my little pair. I took a pic today when I got home. They were penned cuz I worked away from home today and it was raining.
These are the banty Mille Fleur Cochins my broody silkie hatched from shipped eggs. So excited to see them grow out!

Thanks for the welcome. I am amazed at all the information packed into one thread. Everyone is very positive and thoughtful of other members.

We are preparing to set some more turkey eggs. We are not having much luck. One would think it would be the same basic idea as for chicken or duck eggs, but we haven't got it right yet.
Last years chicken hatch rate was good. Too good as we had to give chicks away. Sure wish our turkey hens would go broody. From what I've read, not all Bourbon Red hens will go broody.
So, we are checking and rechecking and hope to start fresh today.

Oh, for those up north in IN, stay warm. Down to 36 degrees here this morning. Brrrr
All of my Bourbon hens do, it may just depend on the line of birds you have. If they are hatchery, the broodiness has often been bred out of them, unfortunately. I sometimes wish they weren't! I am getting -0- turkey eggs right now out of 5 hens.

Quote: I do seem to have poults get "stuck" more often, if I just keep the water tray full it seems to be perfect, without the sponges.

Just need to vent.
I am so sad and frustrated right now. The chicks we got 2 1/2 weeks ago (from an NPIP cert. person) have problems I've never had before and have caused so much stress! First Cocci, then some possible respiratory issues. I thought I saw a bug right after we got them, but it was an instant and could not find it again, so blew it off - must just have been dust. Should not have, they have lice. I did not check all the chicks b/c I never imagined that I would have brand new babies with lice! But they were in a pen in the large shed where all her breeding pens are so they were in the vicinity of and connected with lots of other birds. I am hoping the respiratory issues are stress related from their poor little bodies being overtaxed from Cocci and lice? She said she does bug checks bi-weekly and monthly Ivermectin treatments and has not seen any bugs. But noone else has lice, these babies have only been in their 2 brooders (one LF the other bantam). I realize all these things are issues that happen with chickens, but it is awefully coincidental that I suddenly have all these problems only with these chicks. I spent 2 hours dusting them with wood ash late last night after cleaning the brooders. I'm sure that helped their stress level. She also said she has not had any health issues or had anyone report any.

Wanted to go to processing day @racinchickins
But I won't go now, I don't want to risk the possibility of spreading anything until I am sure everyone is okay.
Oh my, I am so sorry to hear it.
