Opinions, please--

Is 3-4 weeks post hatch long enough for a hen to get out of her broody phase? How long does a hen need to rear chicks to end her broody streak? Does this question make sense?

The goal of having her hatch chicks was to end her broody phase. I don't want to remove the chicks from her at 3 weeks, only to have her go right back to sitting instead of laying.
Our broody hens have always had a mind of their own and we've never had much luck changing it.

Good luck~

Quote: I got my turkeys and they all look great. There was even a breed list in the package for the assorted poults. And they packed up 2 extra assorted poults too. Its great. I don't know for sure that there will be a turkey shortage in our area but if there is I'll have turkey meat priced at a bit above cost. The price I'm sure will seem very very high to the average grocery store turkey buyer but the stores use turkeys to draw people in. I have to think if there is a shortage the stores will use something else.

Plus I get to see a wonderful selection grow up.

Question for everyone. I've got another voulenteer momma hen and eggs in the bator that have two different hatch dates. Would you give the newest broody the eggs that are the farthest behind?

I no longer trust broodies my broodies would sit on them all day and defend them well but when it came to night they would sleep on the purch or least as far as I can tell they did

Any one looking to purchase mixed breed chicks parents are rir, buff orps and a possible birchen orp/not really sure picks on request open to offers

We had some issues with trying to get use to our bator before now we had got one of 12. So we put 9 more in one was a dud and the other look good. So day 20 here's number 2 and 3 has got a good hole going.so far these are ISA/white leghorns we are enjoying our mix breeding. We also been breeding just ISA to

@kabhyper1 one of your boys escaped the Silkie pen and decided to free range with the big birds today! He is so sweet though and comes right up to you and let's you pick him up.

Good to hear they arrived safely. It would be fun to watch the different breeds grow.

I didn't hear back from Porter's today. Hopefully, tomorrow.
