Anyone know what they auction when at Rockville on Saturdays? @chick rookie ?

Anything and most everything.... lol outside is like a yard sale, starts at 9 till done, but they stop to sale hay at 12, then they finish the outside sale . and the livestock sale starts at 2. They sale birds of all kinds in the outside sale, but not right now cause of the Bird Flu thing.

Need advice please from @bradselig @kittydoc and/or anyone who has gone through this procedure. I mentioned receiving the Egg Testing package from FREE flock health screening - Indiana State Poultry ...
I read the directions today, which are all about packing and mailing the eggs. There wasn't any information about how the antibody test works and what happens if an AI antibody isn't detected from an egg. I also didn't see any info about marking the eggs so if there's a problem with an egg, how do I know which hen has the problem?
Mushrooms
It has been raining for hours today as predicted. I was able to go outside to entertain my flock for a couple hours during intervals. Last night, I noticed that around twenty little mushrooms had popped up in the flowerbed by the front door. I had just put fresh mulch out the other day. Tonight I was shocked at the large population of mushrooms that sprouted after today's rain! Although I haven't been allowing the chickens in the front flowerbeds, I know there are mushrooms popping up everywhere. They always make me nervous because I'm afraid one of my chickens will accidentally eat one. I've never seen my chickens eat them. I figured mushrooms were something they knew not to eat. I looked at some BYC threads and apparently some chickens eat them without ill effects, but I know there are many fungi species. Has anyone else noticed their chickens eating mushrooms?

@Mother2Hens It's intended as a screening test, not a "diagnostic" test for individual birds. You COULD mark your eggs and include a note asking them to mark the specimens, but that won't guarantee they will since it's free. And it's been 2-3 months and I NEVER got my results this year, which has me annoyed. I need to contact them to see WTH happened to my eggs, which were mailed just before all heck broke loose with AI on the west coast.

BTW, things are slowing way down. I think there was one new outbreak in the last 10 days or so, instead of the 4-6 a day we were getting. The hot weather is helping a lot. I think they will have a handle on it FOR NOW soon. The question will be if they will have a vaccine to use in the fall, when it gets cooler again and we might expect to see another spike in HPAI cases.

My guess is they're probably still backloged. I mailed mine April 15th and they didn't get results back to me until a week ago! I called in between and the guys said they just hadn't got to it yet with all the AI testing.

I have some that have grown in the kennel run on the sides of logs I use and "here and there". I've never seen any chicken touch them which I thought was interesting. I've knocked them off of logs and kind of "kicked" them loose from the ground and the birds just seem to totally ignore them. So they're coexisting with them without a problem it seems.

Thanks for your info, but I still don't understand how it works. If one egg doesn't have IV antibodies, what happens?

It's supposed to be good to mix the mushrooms in with the soil, but obviously it would create pieces that the chickens might eat. Sometimes I pick them and put them in an area where the chickens don't free range. It's just bizarre how many sprouted up-- like an invasion of tiny aliens! I'm getting ready to go outside now since it's sunny today, so it will be interesting to see if there are more.

I picked up a chocolate cuckoo Orp cockerel and a solid chocolate Orp pullet earlier today from @Junibutt. They are so cute and my color and pattern range for next year has exploded! Many colors of cuckoo plus mauve and chocolate solids will he possible. These are LF Orps, too.

I continue to really enjoy putting faces to names from the thread. We're a great bunch of people!
