   and others who have recommended the medical coding, where would I start?  Is there a class?  Is the job application online, is it a work from home thing that pays for so many codings to be done?  Tons of questions over here. 

I'm far less versed in coding. My wife has an aunt that does it. She does work from home. I know there are classes, and I think online certifications. Anymore most of these types of jobs have systems you log into that they can monitor to see when you are active and you are paid hourly. Some have rigid times some are more flexible. A lot depends on the medical network you get hooked up with.

There are shows coming up in Mt. Carmel IL (near Vincennes) and Connersville IN (east central IN). Probably lots of sale coops as people are downsizing for winter.

Just type medical coding into your search engine and you will come up with online certification possibilities.

Grimm news folks I was just informed (while at work none the less ) that Steve/Stella passed away.. And she will be buried. Geeez I think I'm just going to treat my entire flock... I think the cold then warm then cold again is weakening them so I'm going to stuff straw everywhere and hope that helps preggo was looking up stuff and thinks because it spreads by commingling that it's something else or Steve died from something else.. I will be watching everyone like a hawk for the for seeable future

P.p. I guess I'm in the market for another good quality buff roo atleast equal to sallyindianas he seemed perfect but after all this blows over of course maybe in the spring

@chick rookie I enjoyed the show! Beautiful birds. You wonder what a regular looking chicken thinks of a Polish! Waddles is huge and very handsome. I can't imagine paying vet bills for a horse, but I'm glad there are people like you who are willing to take on such a responsibility. She looks like a sweet (and lucky) horse!
Tonight (well actually 4:40 CST

when the chickens go in), my little overly-assertive bantam cochin, Screech, from @ellymayRans was bored with her partition that I made to keep her from starting trouble. So, she decided to hop up to the highest perch reserved for my black & white co-flock leaders (BR & SLW). I braced myself for more of Screech's head feathers to be plucked out. My BR, Tweedy, stood up and gave her a peck and then sat back down! Tweedy is on day two of molting, and she lost a lot of feathers today, so I don't think she felt like having a battle. Screech decided that it was boring up there, too, so she eventually hopped back to the lower perch. I started out three years ago with parallel perches to avoid hierarchy issues, but found that it makes no difference—there's always going to be a coveted perch whether it's in the front or back or up or down. The grass is always greener...

I'm glad you did. They probably think they must be the new rockers in the neighborhood and O the noise to come with all those band rehearsals... lol
I have been told by a few that Waddles is as big as a turkey, wouldn't know I don't have turkey's, but yes he is huge, I cant easily pick him up anymore, and I try to avoid it when I can, he is a people chicken so I think it must hurt him or something cause he will scream and throw a big ol fit. He used to follow me around and sit on my foot until I would sit down and hold him awhile, but once he started getting heavy he still wants me too, still sits on my foot but when I try and pick him up its all over but the crying.... So now when he wants his lovies I just sit on the ground and stroke his back, he likes that.
Redgitt is a sweet heart, at 23 years young she has been with me off and on 3 times and each time she has been starved down to almost nothing... So she is not going any place this time. 3rd times a charm I guess.

Screech cracks me up I enjoy her adventures ....

and cant wait to hear them.




So been supper busy here this weekend, and tomorrow I have people coming to clean out all the kids JUNK out of the garage, a truck load of round bales, and the foot guy for the horses... lol all coming at the same time... Man I hope some one is running late and someone early... But!!! it will be done and over with. Not to mention all DH " would like " done too!!!! Are you kidding me????

Got the floor completely done in the new coop shed and most of the Wall frames and the roof joists put together before we lost the daylight. Netal shed for a coop...... NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!

So what is the poo cherry on top of my poo week
I walk into work today and my manager says that she has to let me go because to many orders went out wrong this week and even though she knows it wasn't me I being the senior employee should of informed the other employees to door better... Like I'm some type of baby sitter I'd understand if I was like an assistant manager or shift leader but ugh .....

Possitive note I started the corid treatment on the Cxs yesterday and no more deaths so at least that's something good

I just want to say thank you to all of the members who are and have been so helpful here.

I'm still scanning and sometimes reading the thread but I'm sure I will be taking a less active role as time goes on.

You don't have to keep chickens to come and say hi, vent, yell and just have friends to support you. Please know that we all appreciate you and are here for you too.

Has anybody ever had a Barred Rock who's feathers came in white post-molt? It's her first big molt, and I'm not sure if she'll get her barring back or not. It's weird!

She is sure pretty attractive but I love the rocks. I almost wonder if she doesn't have a silver gene going on somewhere in her genetics.

So my beloved Steve/Stella who I bought from sallyindiana drove all the way up there to get started showing signs of cocci so I straw fed him/her some of the corid solution and put the heat lamp on I hope he/she makes it yesterday so energetic today barely can stand I hope it's not to late but the bird was 8-9 months old I hadn't thought birds that old could really get it thought they would have an immunity to it by now

You need to be sure any bird or coop will have dry conditions. Cocci will flourish in cold, damp conditions and wipe your flock out if you don't. Cocci often happens from stress, like a move for young adult birds

So I am thinking of separating my roos from the hens for the winter. They have recently found their voices and all the hormones that come with it. I thought separating them for the winter would give my girls a good break before breeding season next spring. Does anyone else separate? Right now I have them all mixed together, silkies,cochins, and other assorted bantams. Some of them seem to just be super aggressive in there attempts to mate and they are driving the girls crazy. I actually had to put one in time out today because he would not leave one of the girls alone. I figured by separating the roos now at least when it comes time to put them in breeding groups in the spring I won't have to wait the three weeks to make sure I'm getting the eggs I want. What are your thoughts about separating for the winter?

I do separate my misc roos and it sure helps my hens get a break

Speaking of Barred Rocks molting, a couple of days ago I mentioned that my Tweedy girl just began to molt. This morning when I let the chickens out, the coop looked like a ticker-tape parade had just occurred! Black and white barred feathers were everywhere, and poor Tweedy has a bare bottom! And neck. I haven't had a chicken molt this much and this quickly before. They've always been light molts. Too bad this happens when the weather turns cold. I turned a heat lamp on tonight that will keep Tweedy's bare sections warm—and Screech's bare, pecked head warm.

I am so glad I have her! Her in-your-face personality and antics help replace my crazy RIR RIP Nene. Plus, it's wonderful having a chicken that loves to be held. It sounds pretty special to have a rooster like Waddles who likes being pet!
This morning as I was going back in the house, Screech ran up real fast (I swear she wears roller skates) and wanted inside. I knew she wanted some treats before the others saw her, but I didn't want to let her in because I was going back to bed. So I picked her up, gave her a few pats, and threw a few sunflower kernels down just outside the door. She took one look at them and turned and bolted inside the house! I could tell she was thinking, "You can do better than that! I know you have freeze-dried mealworms in here!" Well, I happened to be out and at my house, being out of mealworms is as bad as dealing with the wrath of our cats if we run out of cat food! Anyway, I made Screech mad, but I bet she went back to the other hens and told them that she had just been invited inside for some mealworm treats!

I'm glad to hear that you're treating your flock and that they're hanging in there.

So, I've already talked about the productivity of my leghorn. But the Ancona, (hatched 5/1) hasn't kicked in yet. Comb is still not bright. But everyday when I get my leghorn egg there are black feathers in the nesting box. Never catch her in there. She doesn't sleep there. But it seems like she's getting in the box at some point t after the leghorn lays.
What gives?
Been going on for a month. At first I thought it meant she was about to lay, but not as of yet.
@tmarsh83 Wish I could help you. The waiting and wondering part is difficult. Just when you're about to give up…hopefully you'll find an egg soon.
