The last 2 poults hatched before I left this morning. Those both appear all white as far as I could tell. The other 3, 2 look similar to each other but there is 1 that doesn't.

Brought in the Muscovy ducklings to get a better look at them and took some pics. Let them play in the bath for a bit. Good stuff!

What's the easiest way to clean up a pasty butt? I had to do 5 of 8 chicks yesterday, and it took like an hour.

I set the chick in a small cup of warm(not too warm) water deep enough so his butt is under. I leave it to sit for a few minutes to soften the poop. Then gently loosen the poop from the feathers.

If you are having that many with pasty butt, there is a problem. Do they have a way to escape the heat? What are the temperatures in your brooder? Do they have plenty of clean water?

Im sure everyone is different but i take a pair of small sharp scissors and cut away the fluff below their "poop shoot" so there's nothing there for it to stick to and build up.

They say if you have many thats happening to it could be due to temps being too cold or too hot. Try feeding some scrambled eggs in with their feed. Its happening due to diarrhea and that could be from the feed or stress from the improper brooder temps.
