INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Quote: I think it would be great to have a potluck this fall. I know you were trying to get something together up north but if that fall through maybe we could do something at the camp grounds again. I know my children loved it.
If I host, thats likely where I will have it. For those that weren't there, its right near Brookville Lake, in Liberty IN. Just south of Connersville. I know its clean and well maintained. It would be on a Saturday so I have enough time for cleanup afterwards. The Coomers offered to also, But Stephanie has been ill. They are located near Daleville.
I will look into county fair dates, state fair and see what I can work towards after June 12th.

Class schedules accommodating, I'd love a potluck with everyone

I "think" that maybe it won't seem so daunting if we just do the potluck and don't try to have demos, etc. Maybe offer something fun for the kids that come...but something simple.

That way it could be a good time just to relax and enjoy meeting the folks.

A note to u all re: calling the cops and they do nothing with children's issues.. I had very close nbrs involved w drugs..total mess of screaming, kids crying, etc at one a.m...I called the cops several times when I thought the dad was ripping someone's throat out or i could hear mom being thrown against walls..they would come out stay a few mins then go away..I thought I was wasting my time and effort..turns out, a cps worker later told me that BC I, and other ppl made calls, the issues do become ones they keep an eye on, and one night they did do aa wellness check on the kids and found lots of abuse evidence and did take the kids and put parents in jail..the guy from cps couldn't legally tell me much but he did let me know that my seemingly useless calls do make a difference in the long run..they may seem to b ignoring an issue, but numerous calls definitely put a family on their radar..sure hope this info encourages ppl to stand up for these kids who are suffering..

Thank you for posting this. Honestly the truth! In order for these agencies to do their job, they need records. Having worked for 3 PDs while in animal control, I saw a lot of things most folks are fortunate to never see. Careful, honest documentation will save a life from abuse or worse. Every report puts several agencies in the investigation. Enough reports gives evidence to sustain a case.

Been up all night with a very weak preemie buckling and he has passed away. Mother abandoned him late this afternoon. First time I have had to face this in the 30+ years I have kept goats. I have just known he was failing to thrive since he was born, not the typical playing and bouncing a kid does. Heartbroken but not the mothers fault. Doe is a Rehome and the sire has also passed recently offsite. Its still very upsetting.
I will not be keeping the doe. Sticking with my Oberhasli and easier births and kid care going forward.

That is such a beautiful area. We actually looked at some houses in Brookeville a couple years ago and my daughter was born in Connersville. :) I'm anxious to see how this works out. I'd love to meet some of you from the thread.
